Added rpa createzombie, update your svn.
You're on gmod 13 beta you said?

Yea, I am using GMod 13, i just updated.
Do you think you could take a vid of it?
I just keep the modules in the gamemodes folder. If you put them in the lua/includes/modules folder, they'll crash whenever you spawn a v_zombie. At least, that's what has been happening to me.
That's why you're getting the errors. Let me see what I can do about inducing a crash.
Quick Suggestion: Could you adapt the 'giveitem' command slightly? I was thinking about something along the lines of: If you use rpa giveitem without specifying a target or value (optional) (e.g. rpa giveitem bandage), and your name is Gunthar Wallowmarsh, it will be as if you typed in 'rpa giveitem "Gunthar Wallowmarsh" bandage 1' OR if you are aiming at Somebody then it will be like using 'rpa giveitem Somebody bandage 1'?
It would cut down on typing out the names and values, whilst helping the people who have access to the command.
Done
Thanks![]()
This is great, nice work.
Just noticed you added something that seems to be a "zarms" item. Guessing that this is a zombie claws weapon (or it's a zombie's arm to whack things with).
Hopefully the multiplayer issues for the beta will be fixed soon. Then the gamemode can get a real stress and bug test.
Edited:
I get this lua error after opening then closing the editor window. Rather than returning to a normal use-mouse-to-look state, I find that the mouse is still active even after reopening and closing the menu a dozen times.

;)
The blue error is gm_navigation. Be sure you're using the version I recently committed in the modules folder. Fixed the other one as far as I know, update your SVN.
But yeah, I'd like to get an official test server up soon.
Cool.
Is there anything else new for me to poke around at? Also, going through the insanity lua is giving me nightmares already.
Edited:
Modules don't like me. They keep crashing whenever I spawn a zombie.
Give me your specs, gmod launch options, mounted games, and any addons/additional content you have.
Edited:
Nothing new in the last week or so, been busy.

Doesn't work. Still crashes.
I didn't even have a lua folder until I created it to put the modules in.
What does the alarm bell mean for the character's status?
It means you're alarmed
Hey, I'm really excited about this gamemode, and see the inspiration from Project Zomboid, (At least that's what I'm assuming) If I don't have access to Gmod13 Beta, will I still be able to test this out? And if so, what kind of errors am I going to run into?
The entire gamemode will blow up and delete your garrysmod folder and your hard drive will melt if you don't have GM13.
I'm dead serious.
TL;DR: Vein is being developed for GMod 13. It will not work on normal Garry's Mod, due to the different structures of code and gamemodes. Most notably the replacement of the info file.
He just said that... in a more punny way.
Oh, alright. Thanks for clearing that up. Guess I'll just have to wait!
Edit: Are those No More Room in Hell zombies I see there in the screenshots?
Unfff need more GMod 13.
Who is throwing up a server running Vein when GMod 13 is officially released?
I might. It really depends on if I get a job to pay for a VPS, though.
I will for sure, I owe to diss because of the inspiration that his gamemode brought to my game
My PC's 72.139.128.35:27015 if you feel like popping by. I'm going to be mostly afk but there's a few fridges and beds set up if you want them
I don't have gmod 13 :(
I am so putting this on my server when gmod 13 comes out.
I want to beef up crafting, suggest some recipes.
wood plank + nails = spiked nail plank
maybe add things like weapon parts, recievers, handgrips, stocks, and if they have a set of them make them able to combine them.
can opener + soup can + some sort of thing to save liquids = potted soup
You can just drink from the can...
Obviously using elements from Project Zomboid would be a good start, so I won't bother suggesting ones from there. Also Dead Rising 2 would be a good place to get ideas from.
Consider taking some ideas from 'Dead Island' weapons.
but...it wouldnt be intense!
Nnnggghhh if only I had GMod 13. I'm going to be spending the next few days lurking the key site to try and get a key, lol.
As for suggestions of crafting:
Wood scrap + Wood scrap = Wooden Plank (Can be used to board up windows and doors, etc. Possibly could also be used as a melee weapon?)
(Examples of wood scraps would be models such as:
models/props_c17/FurnitureDrawer001a_Chunk01.mdl to Chunk06.)
I can't think of anything else for crafting right now but if I think of anything I'll post my ideas.
Crowbar should be a "multi-purpose" tool and highly valued, used to break open doors, crates, and secondarily as a melee weapon.
Cheers for the ideas, everyone.
Most melee weapons (hammer, axe, etc) are going to be usable for their normal purpose. You can craft with them, but you can also swing them too![]()
Is there an on the fly item creation system?
No. I could do it but I wouldn't be able to have them save properly.
