Well I haven't gotten so far in the first book yet, but for example, at the bar in bree, Frodo doesn't actually see Sauron, which he does in the movie.

I doubt Sauron will be at the battle of the Five armies, since the orcs that joined in were led by a goblin king.
easily replaced
But doesn't Beorn behead the goblin king? How are they gonna change all that?
Just Make it so Beorn beats Sauron in combat or something..
But how in the name of ballsacks is a "shapeshifter" suppose to beat Sauron? That'd really lower Sauron's image
Doesn't have the ring, does he?
Hopefully he's learned from his mistakes with King Kong.
he ought to be somewhat "powerful" if it takes the white council to drive him out.
Fun fact: the Sting you see Bilbo with has no inscription, but it has an inscription in Lord of the Rings. The inscription reads: "Sting is my name, I am the Spider's bane." Bilbo did not name the dagger Sting, however, until after he sliced up the spiders, so it would make no sense for it to have the inscription on it when he finds it by the trolls.
TL;DR: Attention to detail - this movie has it.

oh god that's the best peeder jigson yet hahahahaha
Are you certifiable? He NAILED King Kong. It was the cinematic experience of my life!
Extras casting call:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/jobs/other/...-441281338.htm
Over long, overuse of terribly done slomo, mediocre action sequences apart from the Kong vs T-Rex fights, a horribly miscast Jack Black, and most of the characters were pretty boring overall.
damn, meant to rate that as winner, not funny.
Sauron was nowhere near the Battle of the Five Armies, he was busy (fairly big spoilers) fleeing his stronghold as The Necromancer after Gandalf n' friends chased him out (which is part of the Gandalf only scenes you see in the trailer, so we're definitely gonna see Sauron in this movie.)
Edited:
Extras for the Wood Elves and the Lake-men I wonder?
incoming awesomeness

IIRC didn't Gandalf & co. "defeat" Sauron with an invention that Saruman made? I wonder if he'll include it in the movie

kaskade said the OP needs a overhaul, shall i make one then?
"Only cool thing was teh dinosaurs!"
You sure sound like a critic whose words should be heeded... It was well done. It set up an emotional bond and then cut the tie. I've never seen better really.
Now Jack Black... Well, that's debatable. You sure as shit never stop seing Jack Black instead of Denham, that's for sure. But i thought it did well enough. It's certainly better than Jim Carrey in "23".
I really liked that the movie had the old-school vibe where watching it was meant to be a special occation, just like a trip to a theme-park or something. Very unlike todays "Summer Blockbuster" stuff. And it kinda took the film that bit further for me. So yeah, might be over long to you, but it wasn't long because he was stretching it. He just fleshed stuff out.
Not only that, but he fixed something that pissed me off about the original. That bitch was screaming constantly! It totally rendered the whole situation annoying. This time we only got two screams from her and BOTH resulted in chills down my spine + she actually acted this time. Big improvement.
3000 people showed up at the most recent extras casting call. Wow...
http://www.3news.co.nz/Hobbit-hopefu...6/Default.aspx
Color me ignorant, but what do they mean by "character faces," exactly?
idk maybe something that makes you look kinda unusual, something special with your face
maybe like that fat hobbit who is giving evil eye in the beginning of fellowship fo the ring and in the end of return of the king
or something
idk
I'm guessing it means people who have interesting or recognisable faces. As opposed to a generic face that you might not give a second glance in the street.
As already mentioned above me; special looking faces.
Like maybe high cheekbones, big nose, long chin, big ears etc.
Thought you guys might like this. It's TECHNICALLY the first adaptation of "The Hobbit" ever- animation director Gene Deitch's producer was about to lose his license to the book series, and had him toss together something in a month that he could screen to an audience.
Suffice to say, it is a fairly... liberal adaptation.
I've never been so hyped for movie as for The Hobbit
But it still 318 days away..
Well shit son! "Hobbit cast complete" and no Aragorn for the second movie. he's fucking VITAL in bridging Hobbit with LoTR. He did half the work in finding Smeagol.
They're not going to connect this with FOTR, that was just the original idea.
Could be a cameo.
Since when? Source or gtfo. Frodo and Bilbo scenes support what's been said about that bridging via a framed narrative.
Wow, rude. I mean they won't make an ENTIRE movie bridging the Hobbit and FOTR, like many people seem to think. BOTH parts will be "THE HOBBIT".
And i never claimed anything to the contrary. But the second movie WILL contain story/plot after the Hobbit book ended. mostly shit from the appendices of LOTR that does indeed bridge the two stories. Why did you ever have to contest this if you're going to change your statement half-way? They'll dedicate time, and a lot of it in the second to bridging them. Wether they'll take it all the way there or stop some years before...
Please, I never said that the only 'cool thing was the dinosaurs', great job putting words in my mouth.
I said that the Kong and Rex fights were about the only action sequences that were well done.
Also, the chemistry between Anne and Kong was great, I suppose I forgot to give it props for that too.
And I never really liked the original King Kong, I was more of a Godzilla guy.
Though, I would rate this King Kong higher than every Godzilla and Kong movie ever made.
But, it's not saying much.
6/10 would be my rating, though, I haven't seen the movie in a number of years and perhaps a rewatch is in order.
No they won't, as this idea was scrapped. We'll see Bilbo telling Frodo about his adventure, we'll see the White Council discuss Sauron and we might see Gollum leaving his cave, but a big part of the movie will not be following Aragorn around or whatever.
Never said that either. I just said that they'd be bridging. Gandalf did as much shit as Aragorn.
Please stop posting.
