ska covers only
ska covers only
Also guys deadline is 10th february, unless you want it earlier. Fair sure this will make the concept album die again though
(Hakita I have another mix of your concept album mix posted)
fuck concept album
Yeah the Christmas album and this album are kinda better because we dont argue about what it is
no it's not that it's just akz
That too
in fact, AK'z I really don't think you should post in the release threads in GD because you inevitably start a shitstorm with someone
Alright, I figured out the song I'm doing.
If it's floyd, I'd be willing to help you on that too.
someone do fly me to the moon as well
This is a good album idea, props for OP.
Also mashups would be okay if it didn't consist of pure samples. Otherwise it's just a remix and not a cover.
Edited:
No guarantees.
I'm reconsidering my initial choice.
What are you able to do exactly.
What isn't he able to do?
This is what I'm reconsidering.
interesting.
Guitar:
and vocals:
But I don't think I'd be much help to you if you're not trying to do a faithful cover.
someone should cover this
If i can get hold of a mic I might do a cover of this:
with 'sadie' replaced with garry maybe?
I'd do a pink floyd cover but pepin and mr n are probably going to do that so maybe i'll find something else
Most likely going to include a Pink Floyd song in my medley.
Are you fellas going to cover Time? Because I'd like to use that in my medley, but won't if you guys will.
I thought that time would be good for a collab cover. hell, even vedi can do backing vocals for that
We are doing Comfortably Numb.
Sorry mate, my song will be instrumental.
Oh goodie, I did a cover of that in an earlier medley I did back when I still made songs with the MIDI sound.
I'll help do harmonies for comfortably numb!
i think you meant experimental techno that's okay we all make mistakes.
hahahaha
I have chosen
do you need a roger waters
because i can roger waters
I would shout this song on a bus in an attempt to piss off the fat girls in front of me in middle school
Despite organising it I feel obliged to see that this will be the first time I've ever completed a project or even really started one that is my own so there's an 80% chance it will be shit, and thus an 80% chance I will not submit it
I will however organise everything and make sure this album gets a bit more exposure than normal, and I will post my submission here regardless of how I feel about it
I'm looking forward to your submission. :) Also, which song did you choose so I could practice, that is, if you are still on for our collab?
I'd love the help, I chose Codex by Radiohead
Good, I was hoping you'd choose that one, it suits my voice better.
I'm replacing the piano with guitar and using violin synths and stuff and we'll see how I go, It's very subtly layered though so I'm starting to realise its more difficult than I originally thought
Never transcribed an orchestra before. Should turn out interesting.
So here is a quick rough. No mixing and I mess up on the bass a decent bit. Still in the process of doing the orchestra, right now I've got a general orchestra going on and I am picking out the individual parts. I did use a midi file I found for the drums and some of the chords. Not sure how accurate they are, but they are decent placeholders for now. This song is going to take a bit of work to get right.
There's no point saying the drums are dry or anything when there's no mastering or mixing, but pretty much what you said. It will take some work. It's a very powerful song with a lot of elements. You know more about recording then I do so it's hard to comment on it, but i'd say work on shit one at a time.
Edited:
Also, for anyone that needs a more than decent enough piano, strings, organs, brass, synths or anything hook me up with a midi and I can try playing back and recording the sounds from my machine. It's great.
Pretty much have everything a keyboard would except a choir.
are you trying to mimic it exactly?
As close as possible, though the solos might be an exception.
Comfortably Numb would be such an easy song to cover. Except from the guitar part, but if you had basic skills, I'm sure anyone could do that.
Depends on what the vocal would be like.
It sounds good so far. The first solo is missing the string arpeggiation bit. And I don't really dig the strings during the final solo section. There should be some drawbar organ in there, too. Also, the bit right before the second solo (after "I have become comfortably numb") should get quieter, not louder. Sorry if I'm sounding nitpicky, I'm sure you have all of these in mind already pepin.
I'm currently in the middle of working on David's vocals on the choruses. This is what I have so far:

Easy to cover, hard to cover properly.
