they barely crossed any canon lines to me other than making a fancy font for the gameover message, which is perfectly understandable as it does seem to look better than the dull white font theyve been using throughout the series

It's a joke, and will always be a joke. One or two people may have disliked the change, a few more overreacted and now there's humour to it, much like elbows too pointy. Don't go doing that "lmao i typ like this because im gold member!!!" shit either, it doesn't bode well for you.

The angle of the camera makes me think they've created some posh, polished scripted first person sequence to show Gordon getting up after the Resonance Cascade. Personally, moments like that in games give me some kind of eyeboner.
