when i first heard it i was bored because all the songs sounded the same. i never listened to any blues before so it probably just isn't a good start to the genre.

Yeah it's not a good place to start, not because it's bad or not enjoyable because it is but as you say it can be a bit simple sounded. And I don't sit around and listen to his complete recordings straight song by song, I never do that with any artist

You guys need to watch the movie from the 80s, Crossroads. It has Ralph Macchio and Steve Vai, it's funny as hell.
Also, watch The Search For Robert Johnson. It's an actual documentary while Crossroads is just a movie.
On topic about his complete recordings: It's been debated how many songs he actually recorded. The number has been as high as 30 something I believe.

Definitely not the best starter, solely because it's so early thus not the best quality. Once you know the culture and feeling behind it, with BB and Muddy mostly then you'll feel the blues. Also John Lee Hooker.

Well yeah, I mean a one hundred percent "true" blues song is the 12 bar blues with the repeating verses. I don't like the Blues enthusiasts that think like that though.

honestly that song title was was thought up a couple of days before the concert... it's supposed to be about hunting bears with napalm but as you can probably tell it has no lyrics at all, except during the end part
