Hey do any of you American photographers live in the Midwest at all? I'm just curious.

Me 'n Gaboer are both in the Chicago area, Chezhead is a bit up into wisconsin (go figure)
little distant from south dakota but not really unmanageable. I go up to Eau Claire monthly to visit my girlfriend, maybe a meetup in that area would be manageable. Doubt gabe would be able to get out there though

I can't decide whether or not I should upgrade my Flickr or my 500px. I seem to get a lot more action on 500px.
Which one do you guys think? I mean the $25 or w/e upgrade on 500px, not the Awesome member.

I'm going to be in the Chicago area August 3rd for a wedding, I can plan a few extra days for some sort of meet up. Otherwise, Eau Claire is absolutely right in the middle. I'm in Sioux Falls, almost dead on the meeting point of Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota.

ah i suppose it depends how you take those words into account, just I tend to think of it as automatically meaning the opposite of rather than what you're getting at

4 hours later and i'm still confused by this
for it be higher number = greater penis size it should be directly proportional,
inversely proportional is what you say when you want to say as one goes up, the other goes down
just never heard "directly inverse" used for this situation either way in my life. I know I shouldn't care this much, but my mind is full of confusion in a lot of things right now...
My ex girlfriend had cheated on me multiple times before breaking up with me, regardless I still gave her a second chance. I actually still want her back, because I actually love her. Most people I know would say that's stupid, but one thing i've noticed about relationships that work out long term is that it's because people are willing to forgive mistakes, even great ones.

Okay, so I'll be the photographer at the upcoming graduations at the end of this month.
The setting is the New Luxor Theater, which has a huge theater hall.
I was going to lend a Canon 400mm f/2.8L IS to do the job from the back of the place, but I'm still doubting if this focal length isn't too long for me to use there. From the plece where i'm standing to the place where I would need to take pictures of (mostly people, and sometimes more than 1 person) is about 30 to 40 meters away. And I don't know for sure yet if I am going to do full body photos or just upper torso, could be that I will doing both.
I have the possibility to lend other lenses like the 300mm f/2.8L IS and the 70-200L f/2.8 IS II.
I already have covered the normal zoom range with my 28-80mm f/2.8-4L, and maybe something that's also important: I will be using a 1.3x crop camera OR fullframe. Weight of the lenses isn't a issue either because I will be using a monopod.
What do you people think ? Do I really need 400mm or would it be more wise to just take the 300mm or even less?

All the tourists were out in my city yesterday when I was taking street shots, and my god, everyone was walking around with their Canon's with their flashes on in ultra harsh sunlight; I was taking shots at 1/4000 - 1/6000 at f/8 or so, and these people have their flashes on! Probably because they're in auto or something.
I just wish they'd take a second and learn a bit about their expensive camera, it'd make their shots that much better, and probably save battery haha! It really isn't that difficult either, but oh well, what can you do.
I did see a guy that looked like he had a Nikon D3, D4 or something. Big ass camera.

now and again when I'm down in chicago, I tend to catch the same lady working photoshoots around the bridge on state street with a model, someone carrying junk, and maybe a few of the model's friends/other models or whatever. She totes around a big canon with huge L glass, and has a large flash with a diffuser capped on the front of it. It seemed silly at first glance but I realized pretty quick she always shot with the sun behind the models late in the afternoon, so the flash is being used for fill to make the background/edge highlights not explode compared to their properly exposed faces.
Not sure if the tiny flash-head-sized-diffuser thing does anything for her though
