Personally I'll never use a 1st person camera in GW2, no matter how good it is.
Personally I'll never use a 1st person camera in GW2, no matter how good it is.
i always play fully zoomed out for the same reason newbienice stated. if im a warrior i want to be able to see enemies from behind so i can run or regroup if needed while fighting someone else.
i always saw first person as something you would use to get screenshots (remove HUD too)
otherwise its fully zoomed out
I like to have first person view to be able to look at things from the characters perspective. If you're always in third person there's a danger that the things around you lose scale. Once you zoom into 1st person you start to notice how truly massive some things are. Plus running through towns in first person can be a different experience altogether.
No way I'd ever use it for anything other than looking at scenery and screenshots though. It's just not a viable option for combat.
i better be able to level up entirely from PvP without ever having to touch PvE. there's a couple MMO's that claimed you could do this easily (warhammer comes to mind) but honestly at some point you were forced to go to PvE because the PvP was so unbalanced that you couldn't possibly level from it.
i've only ever played MMOs for the PvP, and GW2 looks a trillion times better for PvP than GW1
if all you want to do is pvp you dont even have to level. you get max level and full pvp gear. From then you get achivments ect to unlock cooler looking armour and titles.
World versus World pvp, not structured pvp.
i think you have it the wrong way around. players for structured instantly get made max. where as wvwvw you enter at any level, you have only the skills you have unlocked so far but it boosts your hp and other stats of that to a max level character.
I think he was talking about world versus world pvp when it comes to levelling up.
ah right, yeh i think you do get exp from WvWvW not really sure though.
If I remember correctly they said you get xp from all PvP. So you could just stay in world PvP only and max out. I think they were talking about looting player bodies too (randomized loot I think, not your own personal equipment).
From the official blog:
So most likely loot tables related to your personal level.
I love this.
XP and LOOT from PvP! YES.
where do I preorder?
So, rumors of a console version of this game floating around. You guys think its worth it if Sony and Microsoft allow consistent, free updates?
I wouldn't get it for the console, ground targeting would be an absolute joke on there. plus most people not having keyboards and thus unable to communicate.
I was actually talking about both structured and world PvP, and that sounds amazing that they just boost you to max level in the structured PvP. I guess that means they can focus more on balancing endgame PvP instead of having to deal with a bunch of different brackets to try to balance it out, and even better if I can be max level with great gear in structured PvP and still level up from it outside from that structured PvP.
that's basically what i've been waiting for in MMOs, i can never really get into them because in many MMOs the only thing I can find fun is PvPing (especially the endgame PvP), not having to level up to max level to PvP first is going to be a big incentive for me to play this a lot more
mics toggled all over the world if people come close
god id kill myself
Would be cool, but far too easily exploitable.
Holy crap guys, beta just started for press.

Testers can release footage/info on Monday.
Jizz everywhere, all over the screen.
My keyboard needs replacing.
My body is ready.
I hope i dont have college work to do for tuesday >:(
Someone at Arenanet Tweeted a map showing the population of Queensdale. Extremely jealous of those people getting to play right now.

Sounds like a lot of fun in a high populated area, tried Tera the other week and spent 10 minutes running in circles just to tag the last mob for my quest. Then I had to kill a named mob, and about 20 players were camping his spawn point, even grouping up meant someone else came along and tagged him the second he spawned. Can't wait for bloody Guild Wars 2 where a higher population should hopefully actually make the game more fun.

are your bodies ready sirs?
I'm in the TERA Closed Beta now, and people are a lot more civilized this time around, they group up to kill the named mobs so everyone gets credit, same with harvesting materials.
Though there are jerks that just try and mess things up for everyone, I much prefer GW2's system.
Yeah, to be fair the servers were very overcrowded and full of trolls, that would probably be less of an issue on release. If anything though I was impressed at how well the servers ran with all of those players on.
I think Guild Wars 2 has just spoiled me with the idea of a more interesting quest system. I was hoping that the combat in Tera would be enough to keep me interested until GW2s release, but it just doesn't seem like my cup of tea anymore.
Having a bit of a hype overload with Guild Wars 2 now, after months of analysing every pixel on a single screenshot they release for my fix of content, we're now getting so close to a whole lot of new stuff.
Don't get me wrong, I prefer GW2's system as well.
The only reason I'm actually playing TERA is because of the combat, it's somewhat entertaining.
Shit man, I can't wait to hang out around Shaemoor and help out those darn citizens. I really, really, really like the idea of escorting a caravan and doing tasks along the way, and the reward of a new special merchant or something.
I'm going to help the fuck out of those citizens!
Too bad the rest of the game is a grind. The questing system in most MMOs feels so outdated and grindy. If I can enjoy questing while also enjoying the combat that really decides the game for me.
I just thought a horrible thought. What if ArenaNet suddenly releases Guild Wars 2 as a free to play game. It'd ruin everything...
My body has been ready for the past three years.
Such a lovely thought that I know this wont happen.
Apparently this is coming to consoles?
Really hoping that doesn't come through since the best thing about GW to me was the great community.
NCsoft confirmed that the development stage for consoles is in "preparation" but I doubt it will be out this year, if it even comes out.
edit: actually I'll take this down, for security reasons.
Now I'm itching to know what you said.
Someone on Reddit made a list of all the twitter accounts of the Arenanet devs playing the beta if you're interested in feeling incredibly jealous of the odd hints they give.
