Today someone rudely tried to challenge my GW2 knowledge.

They were basically going on about how GW2 was probably going to suck because NCSoft was developing it. I told them Arenanet was developing and NCSoft was just funding/publishing it, and eventually he stopped arguing and dropped it.
I wish I had a more thrilling tale, but it was just an internet battle.

To be fair Arenanet is now wholly owned by NCSoft so I could see how they could be confused.

How different is Guild Wars 2 to World of Warcraft? I wasn't really going to get into the game until two of my friends started talking about it and that has sparked an interest.

Who else remembers all the speculation on about when GW2 will be released? We collectively figured it'd be done by the end of Q1 or early Q2. It's Q1 now. 3 to 4 more months.

Oh god the PvP systems are absolutely amazing. I have a feeling i'm going to be playing a lot of WvWvW. Get together in a voice chat with like 5 people, set up ambushes and go and capture resources, I have a feeling this game is going to get a HUGE audience just because of the PvP. A good system in GW2 is you don't even have to do PvE to level. You can PvP all the way up to 80, while getting items too.

We already know there's going to be events tied to certain times of day or weather (e.g. centaurs can attack a village at dawn, a thunderstorm might create lightning elementals who start rampaging). I think something based around a forest fire caused by lightning might be cool around the Sylvari area.

Might get this, had a little bit of fun with the first one before I quit. I tried to pick it up again but all the expansions pissed me off.

I know this sounds kinda stupid, but I think it looks better than WoW, and will probably have a much larger playerbase than it. Not slandering WoW or anything, just GW2 looks so much better.

Nah I wasn't talking graphically speaking. If they both had the same graphics, but were compared systems/mechanics wise, GW2 has my vote.

well gw2 seems to be something new which is now a bit fucking damn rare in the MMO industry

most mmos you pick a race, gender and class and grind your ass on a field spawning cows and killing them finding loot based on an item list to level up
and once your good enough you go to new area and do exact same thing
or have a quest who says kill x amount of monsters

I'm getting this on launch day! Really can't wait absolutely loved the first one wasn't too keen on the expansions though. Hope they release it on Steam.

Me too. I played it twice at the same convention. It was p. much the only reason I went there. That and skyrim. Unfortunately I ended up on a glitchy PC that had a much lower FPS than the others the first time though :(

I got a Mount & Blade Warband clan where lots of them going to buy Guild Wars 2, it will be excellent to play with them over teamspeak.

The closest convention to me was PAX East in Boston. Even then, that was about 975 miles away from me. My parents were gonna take me for my birthday but then they forgot.

After reading Edge of Destiny, I'm pretty excited to see how golems will work aswell as how player interaction will be between the playable races.
