Right now we're with Daemon Servers and they are absolutely fantastic but we keep getting DoS'ed.etc and the game server being nulled and blocked for 12 hours. Is there any alternative which has DoS protection? I've tried Xenonservers but the ping we got was absolutely godawful!
We have 32/32 most days.
Any help is awesome.

Ukgame is pretty good, It's also hosted in the UK, so that gives a good ping for the most of us in Europe. I don't know if it has DDos protection though.

What size of DoS/DDoS attacks are you receiving?

It varies a lot, the most recent we suspect was just a small DoS so the server acted funny for a while and then went down, but we have been attacked before and we just went straight down...

Ask your provider for details on the attacks. If they are lower than 500mbit/s you would have no problems on a VPS or dedicated server, which would give you more control over how you defend against the attacks.
Shared gameserver providers are unlikely to be of any use to you if you are being constantly attacked.
(Also I recommend http://fanaticalvps.com, but only if the attacks are small; not a DDoS protected provider)

All of my rage. This is exactly why server hosting people should never be allowed to have an account about their hosting. It's blatant advertising. OP asked a question, you just throw up the website for your own server hosting without giving out ANY details. I'm not going to rant but that's both pathetic and silly.

The attacks you are receiving are larger than 100MB a sec, but I'm not sure how much more than that they are as the datacentre we use for Daemon Servers charges £50 for 3TB of transit and 1GB line would be silly seeing as a 1GB attack over 45minutes would eat £50 of data. It may be worth looking for an umetered VPS with 1Gb uplink and as I said in the the last ticket I have no problem refunding the remaining time you have with us so you can find a soultion best for you.

Its to protect ourself, we have the ability and know-how to deal with DDoS attacks. I would even give you a free trial to show we can handle it.

I love 24 hour hosts. Especially "we offer no refunds" ones.
So basically you can fuck up someones server, not issue any refunds, and not be liable for anything.
Sounds professional to me.
Take your shoddy service somewhere else. And it's not called "Garrysmod" it's "Garry's Mod."
What's worse than your lame-ass attempt to offer server hosting is how you've setup your site.
No contact form, just an email link, and poorly structured sentences.
A nice way of saying "we oversell."
So you're willing to give someone a trial so the server can be DDoSed to show how well you can "handle" it. Flawless logic.

Wow someone is moody, and if you read other hosts ToS they cover the same grounds. You have to cover your own ass. Also 16 servers on a 8 core server with 16gb of RAM is plenty.

It's not "moody", I can just tell you got a few friends together, bought some VPS's, and said "let's make a server host."
Prove me wrong. Show me business license's as a registered copyrighted company. My friend lives in the UK and says that copyrighted businesses must be registered with the state to carry any real "legal" copyright.

So, how your DDoS protection looks like. Software based null routing? It ain't no use for bigger attacks, especially when you run 16 VPS/dedicated servers on one machine.

About ToS, it is RIGHT to reserve rights to termination for any reason, look at other ToS'es, they reserve right to do anything funny with little consequences. But you should still recompensate loss of account.

He can be a sole trader in the UK which doesn't show up on the companies house website, but if he gets sued personal assets come into play.

Exactly why the ToS are so critical, You have to cover yourself.
Amic: We have a host which can block connections at the ISP level plus have hardware firewalls in place. And i would gladly re-compensate the loss of a account (I have had no need to so far, and low chances i will ever have to terminate a account), as ive said the ToS are stated the way they are to just give myself protection as a sole trader.
Edit: Also what gamemode are you running? I have seen HL2RP cause some real anger in the form of DDoS attacks, any idea what you have done to someone to annoy them THAT much to do such a large scale attack.

I totally understand and agree, and blocking at ISP level is nice, unless you get raging kids with botnets, but i think it is do-able. Hope you won't have to deal with it tho ;).

Then your customers should receive refunds for account termination, especially for unforeseen things like DDoS. Only a shit host would terminate your account for getting DDoSed and give nothing in return. It's not like it's their fault they got DDoSed. Nobody ever ASKS to get DDoSed.

So what if said client costs you $4000 in overages? It's happened before, and it would be a kick in the teeth to owe them money as well as money to your provider for an attack on them.

Again, nobody ever asks to be DDoSed. The client is just as much of a victim as the host, but someone should pay up. As a host, you're supposed to take care of your clients. Jargen obviously wants to take your money and have no responsibility in return. There is an expectation. When you go to a fast food joint and order a burger, and it turns out to be burnt, it's standard customer care to get you a new one or to offer a refund for the unsatisfactory product.

Right, so if you had a server which took an entire rack offline when getting attacked, you would expect a refund when the host suspended your server/nullrouted you and asked you to resolve the problem (Which you couldn't do)? Do you really think like that?
If you had a new roof fitted on your house, and then hurricane force winds hit your town, causing slates to fall off your roof, writing off a nearby porsche, would you expect the roofing company to not only pay for the damage to the car, but also refund you for the roof?!

As i have said it is only in there to cover our own ass. We have no intention of actually terminating someones account due to a DDoS attack. We have servers that can deal with this kind of attack.

I'm struggling to see how your gonna protect my £1.60 4 slot game server from DDOS's, how can you ever make money from that.
A business model that says from the outright it can protect against DDOS's would have to charge a lot more per slot to ever make money.

When did I say suspend? I'm saying terminate. Terminate meaning cease to give access to someone. I've had my server shut off while it's been getting DDoSed before, it's standard that it happens. I'm talking about shitty hosts who will remove someones account because they keep getting DDoSed. Learn to read.
"Cover your own ass" basically, again, is saying that you would rather fuck over a single person in order to protect the others. Face it, you're a group of amateurs who only care about making a quick buck. It's like Xenon all over again.

No, they are UKLame. Worst Provider ever, they have horrrible lag and it is probably the LEAST protected system. Infact there root password was at one point 'password' .... (Sources)

Removing a service that loses you money is only natural to all companies..
The industry standard (as I've seen at webhostingtalk) is to give a period to allow the client to retrieve their data, and then part ways.
So you would rather fuck over 15-50 clients on behalf of one client, instead of fucking over that one client? I'm glad you don't run a business.

Actually, I previously ran a business which I later sold off. I ran a web hosting company called AffordableHost. We ran it for about 3 years and then sold it off to some German company, not sure how it's doing now.
Regardless, any time we would be under DDoS, the box that was affected would be shut off. If the DDoSes against said box would not stop, we would give the client time to back up their data, and refund them for the most recent month paid for. The respectable thing to do. The shitty thing to do, is to only allow data backup (if that) and refuse to give refund. Every shitty game server host I've ever come accross has had the same objective. "We don't offer refunds for any reason." That's basically saying, "we'll take your money and whatever happens happens."

Anyway, thanks alot for the refund offer shepsie but your services are probably the best we can do in our current financial status and your support is epic. We can, pooling our money, pay up to £120 per month so if anyone has any suggestions... I do not know how to actually set up a gameserver and the cpanel.etc so I think we'd be willing to hire (?) to set it all up. I really don't see any other options for us at the moment, primarily we are worried about causing daemonservers trouble more than anything.

A small attack earlier which started at 22:00 was mitigated ok with the use of filtering, they seemed to stop the attack when there attempt was doing nothing.
