Did someone say Gorillaz?
Favorite fucking band ever.
Demon Days was always my favorite album, because it was the first album I ever heard by them. And it has the first song I ever heard by them: "Dare". I love that song. Still my favorite song today. I was never too big on the first album, mainly because I LOVED the two that followed it. While I did like a few songs ("Clint Eastwood", "Rock the House", "19-2000", "M1-A1", etc), it was always overshadowed for me by the two that followed it.
I mean, Demon Days has to be my favorite album by any artist, ever. Its just, amazing start to finish. From the sirens of the Intro to the haunting choir in "Demon Days", it never misses a beat. Admittedly, my favorite songs on it are "Dare", "Feel Good Inc.", "Kids With Guns", and "Dirty Harry" (I know, the singles, kinda lame) but those are just the first songs I heard. After that, you have the great tale of the Happy People in "Fire Coming Out of the Monkey's Head" and the repetitive, menacing sound of "White Light". The album truly was a masterpiece. And as the songs themselves weren't enough, the music videos were just unbelievable. "El Manana", "Feel Good Inc.", "Dirty Harry" all had fantastic videos.
Then there was Plastic Beach. Now, its almost as if Gorillaz decided they weren't satisfied with making one masterpiece in Demon Days. They had to go and do it again. And jesus fuck, did it work. This album is unbelievable. To start things off, you have an Intro that gives me chills every time I listen to it. You have "White Flag", an amazing song with a fantastic beat and lyrics that work wonders with the track. Bashy did an amazing job, and this song just makes you want to chill the fuck out on a beach somewhere and forget the rest of the world exists. On to "Rhinestone Eyes", my favorite song on the album. The vocals are unbelievably soothing and the best just makes you feel mellow as fuck. Another great song to chill to. "Stylo" was excellent as well, and the video was awesome as well (Bruce Willis? Hell yes.). And who doesn't love Superfast Jellyfish? "Empire Ants" has a stellar beat that just makes you want to kick off your shoes and dance after the heavier section comes in. And of course, you have "On Melancholy Hill", a fantastic song that really just soothes the soul and lifts the spirit. Its a great song and makes you want to lay down and let the vocals carry you away to a better place. The rest of the album is unbelievable as well, but this post is too long anyways, so I should probably cut it short.
I've seen them live, and their song choice is fantastic, and they take songs from all of the catalogue, while focusing on their newer stuff as well. I wasn't really big on The Fall (I hate nearly every song on it save "Revolving Doors" and a few others)
tl;dr Gorillaz is the best band ever
also i love this song
should have been on Plastic Beach imo
sorry if this is too long or something, I don't normally post here
