The addon contains the content for the game. The gamemode is the code/server side files needed to play the game.
We separated them so we could do code patches that don't affect the content.
Just get both and install them to your garrysmod folder.

Billiards window popped up while i was trying to control the tv, can't close it, can't do anything
reconnecting now
Holy shit this is amazing, I am uploading some videos of it now.
Oh by the way I am horribly annoying.
And I can't forget this.
I shat bricks when the elevator actually interacted with the NPC's onboard.
Can you send the links? I wasn't able to attend.
Connection problem, that took a while...
I got stuck at the end from using the fruit machines. Rejoined thinking it would put back in the suite... nope restarted my whole elevator experience. :smithcide:
I want to play it by myself, but I can't get it to work. I get in the elevator, then it stays there and the doors don't open.
The coop experience is outstanding, unmatched in substance and excellence.
Make sure you're playing the map with the Elevator gamemode set.
Nevermind, it works. It just takes awhile.
I'm gman every time. :)
I think you read the watch backwards at 1:45...
Looks interesting, I'll give it a whirl.
Okay, this looks awesome, I'm gonna try it out.
Was a very fun experience playing Elevator: Source with friends. Truly amazed at the amount of
detail put into developing this gamemode experience, very nice texturing and variety of map themes,
a nice wide selection of 28 elevators that are randomly selected, different characters entering and
leaving to their death, some amazing elevator music that leaves me grooving even though a gigantic
hand just took one of the characters into the depths of hell, I will certainly be awaiting crazy DLC.
Awesome way to end the round.
I would recommend creating your own server with a group of friends for the time being, the public server is getting pummeled.
I have EP2 half downloaded, will this download whatever else it needs or will i have to download the other 2 gigs?
You'll need to have the whole thing downloaded.
Welp, I have to download 1400 files. See you all in about a hour.
fffffuuuu
Edited:
How the hell do i start a server with the Elevator gamemode?
Starting the game in the Elevator gametype
GMod doesn't automatically detect what gamemode to start a map on, so here a handy 2 step process to get going.
1) Select the Elevator map from the other category.
2) Press the wrench icon
3) Select 'Elevator' in the default dropdown box under the gamemode category.
4) Hit Start Singleplayer if you want a solo game, or Start Multiplayer if you want to host a server!
I played this for about an hour with my friend. Did not record him at all

THIS IS GENIUS WHO WOULD THINK OF SOMPHING SO GOOD!
Hey, fixed some bugs you guys were reporting. Thanks by the way!
This is only an update for the gamemode code.
You can get it here: http://www.pixeltailgames.com/elevat...ode/latest.php
Revision 409
- Fixed issues causing players to get stuck in the ceiling.
- Added elev_reset, which allows players to reset their position when they're on the end floor (in case of other issues).
- Fixed bonematrix Lua error.
- Added precaching of particle systems. This may solve particle issues people were reporting.

Friend and i just got royzolled by the elevator music
10/10 goty
I just wanted to say that this is amazing and really great fun to play with a good group of friends.
I honestly wasn't expecting much when I first looked at it but I was proven entirely wrong. This managed to pack more lasting fun into an elevator ride than a lot of games have in their entirety of not elevator rides.
It's a really original idea too, there was a great variety in the floors. There were the floors that made me laugh and the floors that absolutely terrified me.
I look forward to gathering some more friends and playing through it again.
Great job.
I think images must be with "spoiler" tag
That was fucking amazing bravo, me and my friends had a good laugh
The top floor is fucking cool.
Too bad once the top floor is full of people, it just becomes crazy.
"The Michael Bay of elevator riding!"
That chick in the trunk in the closet is the scariest fucking thing
I see a lot of potential for the community elevators as stated
by Foohy; they are planning on releasing how to make your own
floors and maps, thus community elevators, this opens the gate
to every possibly thought idea to be processed into a floor just
for us to admire.
All the different floor styles come into
place, but how many artists are in a regular Garry's Mod
community that are really great at making show case maps like
pixelTail development team? I guess there are those gems out
there.
Another thing is, I really want to have over
one-hundred floors; variety of elevator DLC and map packs that
goes to the engine limit, but, I don't just want a showcase of
the artists work(truly amazing), I would love exploration,
puzzles and all sorts of cooperation needed.
I see a lot of potential for this gamemode, plus the team's innovation
makes this an everlasting project that could last hours upon hours of
content.
Imagine an exploration floor where the elevator
breaks down and your objective is to find the repair tools which
is hidden inside that floor you are stuck on with puzzles to be
solved to find these repair tools, that is when cooperation with
some friends or forty players comes into play.
The only limitation is the Source Engine but I know it's a solvable
problem: Map change once the server has done every possible
floor combination to a second map with twenty-eight floors, I
guess I'm saying more elevator maps to choose from. And maybe
before every map change, it gives the players the option to
chillout, for small servers of course.

This is so fucking good.
I just wrote up instructions on how to install and play Elevator: Source for those who are struggling with it.
You can view it at: http://www.pixeltailgames.com/elevator/instructions.php
Hope this is useful to someone.
Why aren't you ever able to tell what time it is? O.o
Are you one of those weird kids that only ever had to read digital clocks and watches?
