The final part about Hostgator is true, I have copied it as our US hosting is probably going to be based there - we have to follow their terms and I had permission to use that content. I however, did not copy from Lithium.

I'm intrigued by your stupid post.
i bought a server here

gonna put an anyhub mirror on it LOL
I'm setting your server up right now.

New DE node:
Intel Xeon L5630, 24GB ram, 4x 1TB drive, 1gbit line
Coming up shortly.
I'm finding I'm capping out at less than 100mbit
Is your file on a gigabit server?

It seems to be pretty good as long as I'm downloading from within Europe. As soon as I try downloading things from overseas, the speed drops like a tac
Mhm, I see. I'm trying to download some speedtest files from the US and they seem to be capping at about 90mbits a second.
lol no thank you
for reference I can download from steam/origin at 3.2MB/sec
You're not going to tell me that it bounces to that speed instantly..? From what I see you insta-cancelled the download.

I honestly think you should get a lawyer or something to look over your ToS
Its seriously full of holes, and if you ever got sued they would have a field day with something like this.
There is a reason why ToSes are like 20 pages long, You can make and still keep a plain English one, but make sure you have a document that can hold its own in a courtroom as well, You really have to write these things to the lowest common denominator, Nothing is ever assumed.
Speeds are pretty bad (UK 1gbit)

Notice that Cachefly is a CDN network?
Although I have VPS' with you and I do like them, I get about 1/5th of that speed to the same place.
The Cachefly one? If so that's definitely wrong, all VM's & nodes should get super speeds on cachefly and the rest of the web...
@OP: " IP blocks free (not counting RIPE membership fees)", if so then why is the test IP provided within a block controlled by ecatel (i.e not you directly): http://whois.domaintools.com/80.82.66.148
I have never claimed that the IP blocks were ours.
And lol@ 'super speeds', I guess it's nice to be modest.
Edited:
It's probably because you only have 100mbits.
Right now it's like an apprentice cook and an expert chef. I'll choose the chef's food any time.

If you didn't understand the analogy then I'd rather use the services of someone who has shown to be more experienced if given the choice between the two.
Yes on the cachefly one
got even less than that earlier
Lol, and he's commenting on my host..?!
this isn't to bash Fanatical at all, I wouldn't move from them anytime soon as I've had a lot better than those speeds in the past with other VPS's from them, although this one just seems pretty slow.
Then why tell us about the free blocks/RIPE membership? Maybe you get free ones from ecatel, but that still doesn't count as RIPE membership, I'm merely confused.
Always be positive about the product! That and our VPS speeds are often the fastest around (going on what our clients say, that is).
It's a gbit VPS, furthermore 16.4MB/s is not possible on 100mbits, the max is 12.5.
@Snakess could you pm me your IP/email so I can take a look? You should be getting far more than 16MB/s from any of our nodes...
I said that before he posted pictures.
much better today :)
Well, I think I'm sold.
Come payday I'm ordering a VPS from Fanatical. Not really the goal here, eh OP?
Edited:
Or maybe Hexxeh. ARGH CHOICES
Firstly depends whether you want Xen or OpenVZ. If unmetered bandwidth is important to you, then Fantatical are your best bet. However, I suspect you can get a higher level of performance out of my nodes, so if the volumes of bandwidth you can consume are less of a priority, then you're probably best with one of my services.
You may not:
This seems pretty harsh.Code:Run any gaming servers such as counter-strike, half-life, battlefield1942, etc Run cron entries with intervals of less than 15 minutes. Run any MySQL queries longer than 15 seconds. MySQL tables should be indexed appropriately. Use 25% or more of system resources for longer then 90 seconds. There are numerous activities that could cause such problems; these include: CGI scripts, FTP, PHP, HTTP, etc. Run stand-alone, unattended server-side processes at any point in time on the server. This includes any and all daemons, such as IRCD. Only use https protocol when necessary; encrypting and decrypting communications is noticeably more CPU-intensive than unencrypted communications.
shit out of luck if you want sshd then ayeCode:Run stand-alone, unattended server-side processes at any point in time on the server.
You can always just connect through FTP and...oh.
After reading the ToS I have to ask this question:
What CAN users do on your nodes??
You are giving users so much power and so much bandwidth with amazing speeds. Yet, its seems like there is NOTHING you can do on the virtual box.
The last bit is for US shared hosting.
Edited:
Again, that's for US shared hosting.
Then make it clear.

I can't find theCode:Using HostingBlast's network to spread spam is not allowed in any case. A maximum email per hour limit has been added for this. If we find an account doing this we will terminate your account without giving the right of getting a backup.at all. Just write your ToS properly and maybe some might be interested. I would try it but I now have no idea what I can do on it with out it getting suspended.
It actually was clear, it said 'US'.
Sorry If I'm sounding stupid but can you actually quote this out for me?
Actually no, it descended to that speed from about 500 kB/s. Which is still an abysmal speed. Currently your speed test link times out so yeah that's pretty shit too.
Yes very clear. That's why everyone is confused.
Truly, you are a genius. I can only dream to one day to attain the level of competence you are demonstrating.
just a heads up - these vpses are slow as fuck in terms of cpu speed too
Proof?
it took me 15-20 minutes to compile ruby 1.9.3 from source
"Use 25% or more of system resources for longer then 90 seconds." What if I buy the 4GB of RAM package and your server has less than 16GB of RAM total will I get suspended for using it all?
Edited:
What do you get if you run "dd if=/dev/zero of=test bs=64k count=16k conv=fdatasync" On my VPS I get.
Code:16384+0 records in 16384+0 records out 1073741824 bytes (1.1 GB) copied, 7.37473 seconds, 146 MB/s
uh that is not a measure of cpu speed
