I can hear between 12-19k but in all honesty most studios cut everything below 15 Hz and above 22KHz so it's really dumb to get anything with more range than that.

I am content with a $20 pair of headphones from the Walgreen's and an MP3 at >= 128 kbps
this is not to say I will not accept better equipment if purchased for me, but you'd have to go with a full ensemble as I don't have top notch sound equipment
Tonight I saw a new set of compositions from Rufus Reid. It was pretty special, and I am not familiar with the man's work. This will change.
Got recommended T.R.A.M by some guy in my uni course. I think I may like this guys tastes.
Haha, my headphones' frequency response ranges from 5hz-30khz. Overkill.![]()
those ratings are almost always marketing bullshit
Ok, so I've decided to listen to OK Computer again to see why everyone ever seems to love it and why it's viewed as one of the best albums of all time.
I still don't see it. I mean, it's good, but it all kind of blends together in a monotonous pattern.
i prefer the bends but i havent given their later albums a fair listen.
I've listened to 3 of their albums if I recall, and I didn't really enjoy them all that much. As Sanius said, they're just... boring.
Not mellow, boring. Difference being that mellow songs have character and aren't just one guy mumbling along to a slow going acoustic guitar line.
this girl im seeing introduced me to gotye last night. im surprised i wasnt already listening to him
An X-Files episode apparently took place in my town, and has Bryan Cranston in it... and is the role that got him on Breaking Bad.
Hello, Amazon Instant Video!
cymbals sound like dicks being thrusted in your ears with 128kbs mp3's.
So many people are obsessed with gotye in my town.

Also I'm not an audiophile, but that MP3 / FLAC discussion hurted.
Also, opinions on the difference between ambient and atmospheric music?
Edited:
Not a huge fan of TRAM but if he likes that he's almost sure to like Animals As Leaders
Gee, I think they overlap a lot, but if there had to be a distinction it would be that ambient would be reverb-y in general, while atmospheric would have synth pads and lots of textures. But it's pretty confusing, you could have a field recording of nature with textures, and also consider that ambient-like. I also have a feeling "ambient" tends to have percussion more often than "atmospheric".
Why do you ask?
I think they're both pretty much the same thing
What about french classic/jazz? Where can I find them? the 1920s-1950s era
Mostly curious what people think.
Dude, boostards everywhere today.
Because garry got rid of the old requirements for it. You can only buy it now.
Fucking stupid tbh.
Helps that it's half off today too.![]()
Speaking of ambient anyone know of any artists like Oneohtrix Point Never? I've been looking for awhile now and only come up with Laurel Halo.
I really don't see much of a difference.
Same thing, different name.
Ambient is more song-like while atmospheric conveys a situation or place. If that makes sense.
is "atmospheric" alone even used as a genre name? isn't it more like an added word to another genre like atmospheric black metal?
