I don't think so, no. Most areas in SoC are only inspired by places in the exclusion Zone but mostly made-up.
Yup. That's why I liked Call of Pripyat maps a lot: The immersion grows more when you explore places that can be almost directly compared to the real world Zone.
However, there are still some locations that are kinda recognisable from the real Zone like "Rassoha"(sp?) which probably was an inspiration for Garbage :

From what I can find, Rostok isn't a real factory, although elements may be, as Mukkis said, inspired by existing buildings in the Zone.

Plus Scar was most likely either zombified, killed, or inducted into the Monolith at the end of CS. I still think it's silly; the Vintorez is a good weapon, can't a guy just want a full auto sniper rifle without getting labeled some mangy Monolith worshiper?
Besides, Scar was supposedly empowered somewhat by the first Emission. Don't you think Charon would be much harder to fight if that were true?

Assault rifles, especially ones that have a folding / retracting stock do not take that much space if you take out the magazine has well. Not only that, but field-stripping them would save tons of space as well. Limiting your carry capability to ~3 rifles would be an unrealistic and arbitrary restriction because you could easily strap two rifles to your back without using the backpack at all.
See this picture and imagine the stock folded to the side as well. Doesn't take all that much space now, eh ?

To carry an "unrealistic" amount of rifles that would not fit in a large packpack would require one to carry ~40 kg's worth of them meaning that you'd move at crawling speeds anyway.

Sure, very realistic when your AK-47 runs out of ammo, you just pull an RPG-7 from your backpack with 10 rockets.

I don't need every damn gun to be at 100% combat-ready at all times. One rifle in my hand, secondary strapped to my back and my pistol in the holster.
If you're carrying 10 rifles, most likely you're carrying them to a trader / give to someone else, not because you need 8 secondary rifles.

For one weapon it's somewhat feasible if you have a good assault vest to store ~180 rounds in your battle vest in magazines and have the rest in cardboard ammo boxes.
