From today's Russian Q&A with Yavorsky:

One big game world? - no

    Single player part? - no

    STALKER 2 content? - no

Reading this I wasn't much interested in the rest. There was a lot "we'll do this and that" and good old "too early to tell".

    Do the maths...

Maybe it's for the better that they won't waste it on this obviously doomed project.
I like the Vostok Games people a lot and I want them to succeed so it'd hurt me to have their work wasted in this desperate expedition.

Hopefully they get their act together and will sometime be able to use their S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 content in a solid single-player title, whether it's part of the actual STALKER series or a new I.P that's STALKER but without the name. Hey, maybe they could even make some sort of a spiritual "prequel" to all S.T.A.L.K.E.R games and make it sort of fit in the overall premise of the past games since by setting the game before the events of Clear Sky, none of the factions like Duty or Freedom had formed to be what they were by 2011.

before Clear Sky is easily the most interesting time in the Zone.
One thing I wanted Clear Sky to cover but it failed to deliver : The mutants, particularly the strong ones could have been given a more "mystical" feel to them. For instance with the Bloodsuckers and especially the Marsh Creature, they could be legends that few have seen and survived ; even those who have seen them are regarded as having gone crazy. Well, maybe not make them that rare but still something that is regarded as mysterious and less like something you bump into every now and then and handle with ease. Granted, there was little chance for GSC to do this in Call of Pripyat since the game is set much closer to the center and it would've been an overall disservice to try to trick the player into "forgetting" what they have seen throughout the series but it could have worked for Clear Sky which had far less mutants to begin with. Maybe toss in some stories regarding one of the lost army expeditions turning into feral and mad creatures after getting trapped amidst anomalies and how the snork sightings started after that.

    Edited:

One thing that they messed up in CoP pretty bad was to give the more mysterious mutants too much exposure. I'm mainly talking about the Polter-and Pyrogeists at Zaton. The Poltergeist at the Iron Forest was a rather challenging opponent for a rookie stalker (and even veteran one sometimes!) and I did like the way they made the Poltergeist to sense the player by movement-it made them much more believable and gave you a more sophisticated tactic of dealing with them instead of the time-tested "bullrush it with a shotgun"-technique. But I feel it was a bad choice to make them appear only at Iron Forest after you searched the first chopper. They should have been rare, but occasionally observed in areas like the Jupiter Plant or the old buildings in Pripyat after searching that chopper but not stuck to the open area where they can't form a threat at all. It doesn't really help either that stalkers casually mention them in conversations akin to "Oh yeah, watch out for that Poltergeist over at the Iron Forest". Granted, Call of Pripyat happens near the center of the Zone so naturally there will be more encounters with the strong mutants but it seems very, very wrong for them to be placed into the open like that or something even regular stalkers know about.

Hehe, that was exactly my next book idea. The Zone as a wilderness still untouched, only the beginning. Don't know though if there's anything else to set lore straight apart from Anarchy Cell and early promo stuff.

Oh man, what if they made a prequel of being one of the U.N. researchers who gets screwed over and has to fight his way back to the Cordon in order to survive? Very few stalkers to help you, if any, and almost all of your friends are either dead or zombified. I suppose it would be more linear, but goddamn, it would be spectacular.

Then they would not have confirmed that Strelok was going to be the protagonist of S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 but instead something more ambiguous. Nor would they have commented that S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 wouldn't probably even have multiplayer.
As long as Vostok Games lives, there is always hope. The project can be considered "frozen" but not dead.
In hindsight it's clear I was wrong about that, yup.

Solution: buy my fucking book. Plan A was to get dirty filthy rich, booking the services of a two twin underage whores and exit life after months of doing all kinds of very decadent things. Plan B is now to get enough money to buy S2 IP from Sergiy and make the game and realize Plan A anyway. You will be cordially invited to the party.

Just bought Shadow of Chernobyl and I'm not too far in, but I'm having a fucking blast.
    Quick summary of events...
Got the Merc suit in Rookie Village, got extra ammo east of the village, and took out all the bandits by my lonesome for the first quest. In the end, I was rewarded an F1 grenade and the Fort-12.
The gunplay can be a real ass at times, but it's enjoyable and intense. Great atmosphere in the Zone, great everything.
Unfortunately I have to run the game on the minimal settings on my computer, but it doesn't really take anything away from the experience.

By the way. I've just got confirmitation that the book sales can continue and new ones be written. Which makes them the last merch available in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. line of products.

Kindles are great, I got the most basic one for 80 bucks on Amazon and I've never looked back. Especially good for traveling, makes long train/plane rides go by in a flash. Battery life on the non-touch ones is great, too.
