The call of the Zone is not excluded from man's yearning for adventure.
Anyone in the Zone is a Stalker whether he wants to be one or not.

Fits me.
Also, I remember a time when they banned for the n word.

Update:
Did a shitload of Monolith missions, rich as fuck, armor is 40%, repairing it is expensive, but I don't want to spend any money on it.
I literally had 20kg's of artifacts, carrying them around was a bitch.
Fast forward, I had to say goodbye to my Abakan ; still using Sig SG 550 and having 800 bullets of 5.56 calibre.
Also, VOG 25 jumping grenades are SICK.
As always, shat my pants multiple times during the game, especially at nights.
Are the sniper rifles any good in SoC? Ive read on the survival guide that in late game scoped weapons are almost needed to kill exoskeleton wearing baddies.
Also, do gas masks (when part of the suit) do anything but look nice?
The "sniper" rifles are not really worth it since they fire off-mark too often and the ammunition is way too scarce to be ever really useful.
Not only that but you have to jump through too many hoops to get one in the first place. Scoped 9x39 rifle (the VSS / "Vintar) is probably the best endgame ranged weapon in SOC.
The 9x39 caliber has mad penetration which is really useful for ripping through the heavy armour worn by the opposition past the Army Warehouses. If you can't score a good amount of 9x39 and a "Vintar" / AS VAL (SA-Avalance in the game) , a G36 with armour piercing rounds is very good as well.
Do NOT go to Red Forest or beyond without a good supply of AP ammo. Hint : AP ammo (and 7.62x54r of sniper rifles) will also go through light covers like trees, thin steel plates and wood panels.
Edited:
In case you still want to try them out, buy a little ammo for them prior to going to Red Forest and pick up a rifle from one of the many Monolith snipers. In Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat the SVD becomes useful again (in the former because the NPCs take much damage, making headshots important and in the latter due do the increased combat distances)
In SoC and Clear Sky they just look nice but in Call of Pripyat the gas mask is used separately as it goes to a different slot than a helmet which means that you can use a gas mask or a tactical helmet regardless of the suit (except for suits like SEVA / Exo which have integrated helmets which cannot be swapped out)
The Vintorez is fucking boss in all three games, once I get one I never let go of it. Ever.
Same for the Groza 5.45.
It's funny, my weapon progression is pretty much always the same..
BM16 > AKS-74u > AK-74 (and varients thereof) > Groza, Vintorez, and the winchester pump shottie. (and then it never changes)
This again?
G36 Master Race.
That thing jams more than a Freedomer.
And you only know one of them.
IL86 best race master race.
the g36 sucks in SoC, I like it in the other 2 games though. Then again, it might be because of the terribad animations in SoC.
(also, I'm talking about vanilla ballistics)
Enjoy your melting gun.
Real men only know that there are two names you should know in The Zone.
Izmash and TOZ.
The TOZ-34 is beastly early on. Makes a great poor man's sniper.
It's like a double-barrel dragunov without a scope.
Makes one wish you could duct tape/glue/weld a PSO-1 on top.
AC-96/2 / Obokan with PSO-1 and GP-25 master race reporting in.
Good thing it doesn't have the sniper rifles' scopes, the bullet always hits to the right of the crosshair.
Edited:
TFW has that![]()
the first rifle you find in SoC, the one that's pretty much a shotgun
and you thought the IL86 jams a lot.
Kingly status awarded to whoever makes a Stalker version of this.
Best weapon is Vintorez. It's the weapon of heroes. After that is Strelok's SGI-5k Arrow. Then bolt.
for some reason I can imagine him with sunglasses and the caption "Let's rock."
So i bought call of pripyat and was wondering if there are any sneaking mods, i cannnot sneak around seems like everyone is wall hacking!
You aren't supposed to be Sam Fisher in this game. The stealth in S.T.A.L.K.E.R is about getting into a good combat position before the shootouts start. Moreover, the A.I can also hear you. If you crouchwalk in the darkness and don't use your flashlight, you'll notice that stealth is viable to some degree, you'll just need to learn to apply it correctly.
Also, is Call of Pripyat your first S.T.A.L.K.E.R game ?
Edited:
Yeah, you could argue that stealth is somewhat broken in the base game as things like swinging a knife makes a sound and loading a game might make everyone suddenly aware of your presence.
Please also note that weapon suppressors are not that effective and most of the time function with weapons that make use of subsonic ammunition.
L.U.R.K for Shadow of Chernobyl tries to make stealth somewhat plausible (and more attractive since the weapon recoil is strong and enemies are very accurate) but at the moment it's not something you should rely on.
I played SoC and CS and really enjoyed both games even if it was impossible to sneak.
It is possible to sneak, it's just really weird what the AI will and will not detect.
Edited:
Some times you can walk right up to them and knife them in the noggin, other times they'll shoot at walls in your exact direction.
Belgium
Although most fancy chocolate shops probably have them too.
In SGM 2.1 is anyone having problems with the MP3 player? Every song on there for me is 0 seconds long and when I looked at the game data every track is 6kb large and consists of a "bleep".
Do I get Squire status if I did it in MS Paint?

Vanilla first
holy fuck yes finally found the one stalker build with the same particle effects for anomalies as from the behind the game 2004 videos
time to port them over to final, hard to see anomalies for the win
Belgium is fucking rad, although it's not as easy to get weed as you'd think for a country next to Holland.
Why not just take the train to Holland?
We organised a minibus for the day to Amsterdam's red light district.
Video? I can't think of what they look like.
If you could, I'd love to see some of that shit on there. Pimp out that Freedomer.
Wow, Old STALKER used to look much better than I'd imagined.
Is this why everyone is looking forward to that Build 1905 (or whatever number it was) mod?
um? You talking about Lost Alpha?
The vehicles sounded really cool and balanced. Whatever happened to them? I loved driving around in SHoC using some mod who's name escapes me.
