I thought it was more of a reference to the fact that trolls get wings naturally under specific circumstances to show they're really powerful or something. The Summoner has a pair of wings, even though he's clearly not god tier.

I think it is implying that he is responsible for them beating the Black King and letting them win and then also going on a murder spree and killing a bunch of them.
