Does anyone else have snatchers with weird behavior? I think they like to stab children moreso than kidnap them.

Granted, the one in this story I want to tell was with the mother, but - a snatcher was discovered because it attacked a dwarven baby. It lopped off the arm of the poor guy and then ran for it. (around the corner, into my waiting militia.)

Now I have a baby with no arm.

They generally stab the first person who intercepts them, which seemed to be the baby in your case. Then they dash off.

Yes. And I guess the siege I had was average it was 120 goblins. 20 trolls. A macelord and master lasher. And also a general that was an elf that I thought was a goblin. When I found out he was an elf I was ashamed he defeated me

Fucking Aquifers. I keep stopping games because of them! Had a great little starter fort going on (I've had like a 3 week break) and then I hit an aquifer EVEN THOUGH I TURNED THEM OFF. Just killed the process. Now it's gonna take like another 2 weeks for me to want to get back into this game :/

It's not that game ending. Just cause a cave in to fall into an aquifer layer, then dig through the center of the caved-in stone. If it's more than one layer it is more complex though.

I know how to deal with aquifers. And that's not the annoying thing. The annoying thing is spending 15 minutes setting it all up and making it so your dwarf doesn't get sucked into the vortex when the pillar falls down. And then finding out it's a multiple-layered aquifer. Really, not very fun spending a season and a half (sometimes even two) breaching an aquifer.

It's almost a direct ripoff, but I'd still consider it, especially if it takes Dungeon Keeper influences, too, as DK was amazing, too. Could be a nice mindless game in addition to DF.

Beekeeping isn't working for me. I've got 6 beehives, all of them ready to be split, a screw press, and a dozen jugs, yet the option to press a hive is reddened out.

I heard it's a glitch, and that jugs can't be stockpiled for use. Can someone help me out in my noble quest for mead?

Are the jugs earthenware? If so, are they glazed?

Jugs are basalt, microcline and other rocks. No earthenware to speak of.

If it helps, each hive has a couple dozen thousands of honeybees.

Ok so my miners have an annoying habbit of going deep underground to dig something I set out for them, and then decide NOT to return to the surface and let themselves starve. The ramps are perfectly fine for them to get up and down but they just aren't having it...

Are you sure the ramps are functioning correctly? Miners shouldn't starve themselves unless they're honestly having trouble making their way back up to the Fortress.

It should be working, I dig the ramps in a sort of spiral staircase fashion - kinda like this:

    Code:
    -x
    --
    Z Level 1
    Code:
    x-
    --
    Z Level 2
    Code:
    --
    x-
    Z Level 3
    Code:
    --
    -x
    Z Level 4 etc...

That should work right, I mean it worked for a while.

I've had enough trouble with ramps that these days I just stick to digging staircases, but I'll admit I can't actually see anything wrong with your setup.

    I keep my forts organized.

Possibly obsessively compulsively so. I spread my fort over 4-6 zlevels. Each floor's main hallway is the exact length of the others. On the workshop floor, each workshop room is exactly the same size, and exactly the same length apart. Rooms are always equal length on both sides of the door ways.

Assign them a lovely new bedroom with suspiciously warm walls and magma-safe floodgates built into the walls.
