Does anyone know if the older saves will be compatible to the version that will come out soon?
    Most definitely not.

    Edited:

Toady has stated that when he makes a big release, he tries to cram in as much save-breaking stuff as possible instead of releasing multiple smaller patches each with save-breaking stuff. To minimize the amount of save-breaks into one patch.

it's turn-based, things will go fast for you if you get knocked out because that means you literally cannot do anything to save yourself from doom

Shift A, then choose a target with the keys offered.
Then you can choose a targeted strike at a body part, with a random weapon.
Or, press enter before the targeting choice and you can wrestle.

I think that there might be dedicated move diagonal keys, though I've never used them.

They show as red ^'s on the map by default, I think. They're pretty visible.
I'm using a texture pack that was linked in the last thread I think and when I look at the maps, there are red N's and red squares with lines on it. But those places are haunted and all kinds of horrible shit.

For Phoebus, it's a red crown (like a grey crown is a named mountain peak) on the map. It might nto show on the world, but will on the regional.
I think that Ironhand uses a crown, too.

Killing with arrows is only possible if you hit vital spots (throat, heart, brain, arteries (inner brain in balance fix)), so it's not really a killing weapon

Except when it hits anything else it tends to cause the people to flee in terror, or just drop then and there from the pain.

The only thing that won't cause anything useful is if it hits muscle and/or connective tissue, but the odds of an arrow/bolt hitting that in comparison to all the other spots is minor.

When I played a crossbowman character I would just shoot bolts at people until they passed out, and then run up and bash their head in with the butt of my crossbow.

That picture you posted earlier shows that there's about only 3000 historical figures left alive.

Most likely 98 percent of them are night creatures anyway.

Check legends mode if there is even a single human, elf or dwarf left alive

I checked, there were only about 40 still alive

none of them were over 300 years of age

Hahahah holy shit that was amazing.

Got a siege consisting of 15 mounted gob archers and a speargob leader on a croc, With my half organised military I was pretty much preparing for certain defeat but then the two dwarfs in my archery tower shot the speargob in the stomach with their first shot, causing the besiegers to flee in terror.

    Archery towers rule.

Fixed an issue where kobolds would ambush with non-kobolds (although there could be other buggy ways this happens for all I know), historical migrant families bring critters like the non-historical ones do, some quest critters that could not be located in their lairs were restored, and an indexing error from slime rain that was messing up werewolves has been fixed. The ongoing mission.

My adventurer became legendary fighter and grand master wrestler after just 5 minutes of strangling a night creature continuously.

Edit: Wait how do I kill this thing, it refuses to die.

You put the long sword into your bag or quiver (If you have one) and just take your two handed sword into your hands.

After another siege consisting of 5 squads I can safely say my moat full of wooden spikes ensures a slow, painfull and most of all bloody death for every unlucky goblin that jumps in.
Which ofcourse is half the siege due too my archery towers and spiked ball traps.
