I was thinking about that. That's literally the only mission we've ever used snipers in, because there are assassination missions, and you can provide actual sniper support from 1km away to everyone else that's either clearing the AO you're at or doing a sidemission.

What about the time with Devils and I as the sniper spotter team in the mission with the downed blackhawk pilots and super exploding bomb factory? We were providing fire from a pretty significant distance and stayed far away from you guys.

i like how all of this evolves just from me saying that i know how to use a SWS properly, not intending i'd be doing that EVERY MISSION.

The marksman thing and the OFP comment are two different thoughts, sorry.
and the medic thing was because niko brought up the qualification thing from America's Army, and if you've ever actually played it you'd know there's like a 10 minute slideshow with a huge ass multiple choice test just to play as the medic class online.

You, Kyle, Duel, and apparently partyhats.
There should be a maximum of 1 for the whole side. Each fireteam doesn't need a marksman, it just turns into them killing most of the infantry and leaving nothing to the riflemen. There should be mostly riflemen.
ShackTac fireteams go like this for the most part:
FTL ( FireTeam Leader
AR ( Automatic Rifleman )
AAR ( Assistant Automatic Rifleman )
Rifleman (AT) ( SMAW/AT4/M72/CarlGustav )

They almost never have infantry with zooming optics.
We could simplify Shacktacs squad system like so.

I've never seen Kyle or duel go marksman when I've played. Notrabies and I did pretty well as sniper/spotter during one mission and when we played this weekend niko and I were marksmen and we didn't do as well as the fireteam.

i go marksmen whenever i can, but devils you havent played in a while, and duel just goes marksmen then is like does anyone have a rangefinder.

Its be nice though if we could just do what stewe said. Dedicated roles are pretty important though, keeps everything more organized.

but what if someone got bored of being that role, my skin has a pkm because i liked being a machine gunner when i got it made, and now ive kinda drifted away form using those guns.

Whoa wtf is happening here
I don't mean that you're going to be stuck in a role forever, just suggesting that it'd be nice that when we need a role filled, we have people that actually know what they're doing.
Not every mission is going to have a marksman, not every mission is going to require an AT gunner, etc.
But if it does, we can have someone who knows that they're doing fill that slot.
This helps avoid backblast ff incidents, aggressive marksmen dying and losing our force multiplier, etc.

For support weapons we should use the IAR and then give everyone else STANAG guns so when the SAW gunner goes down a rifleman can take his Cmags and take over his role.
Also at the very least everyone should be able to proficiently use an assault rifle, a grenade launcher and light AT.
