Here, today, we gather to discuss our god. Metal is his name, and he is heavy.

All glory be to Metal, and may we all show our horns, humbled by its power.

Personally, I don't find Mastodon's album covers to be that impressive. I mean, they're better than a lot of other bands, but there's nothing particularly special about them.

Especially the cover of The Hunter, which I feel to be their worst album cover yet (and debatedly my least-favorite album they've released).

Yeah, The Hunter is a bit bland but I really like their use of vibrant color.

I mean, it's better than some bands that give the whole "dark as possible to make it more brutal" thing. While we're on the subject, favorite album covers?

Personal favorite of mine is Youthanasia, though Rust In Peace is often more recognizable.

Try Hell Awaits. It inspired a lot of early extreme metal acts (both black and death metal) plus it's not pure ultra-fast wankery like Reign in Blood (not that ultra-fast wankery is bad, Hell Awaits feels 'tighter' and more well-written than Reign).
