In the off chance I can actually find one of those that looks anywhere that nice with low mileage in my pricerange... I'll get it, but it's not promising.
Besides, I'm leaning towards a sedan since my family might use the car once in awhile for transportation. (4 people)

That guy seems like a nice little deal though
Wait, so you can easily get a Corvette as your FIRST car in America?
What the holy flying fuck
You can get anything as your first car provided you have the money
That's definitely in my budget
-snip-
I'd be flat out refused by the insurance companies if I wanted to be insured on something like that. Shit sucks.
I have doubts that they'd accept me too, but they'd be stupid to refuse my money.
But I doubt I'll get a corvette since I want a more... fuel economical car.
Insurance companies here generally won't "turn you down" unless you're trying to insure some $100k+ supercar and you're like, 18.
A Corvette worth $6000 is far from something they wouldn't insure for even a 16 year old.
If you're going to attempt to get it, use Progressive.com to check on insurance. They have been the cheapest quotes for me, although my dad uses geico so I go with them for actual insurance. Only a little more pricey.
Progressive also doesn't REQUIRE your Social Security number for a quote, so that's always nice.

Also that's a pretty sick corvette for the price.
How many miles can I expect to get out of it? I calculate that we'll put 12,000 miles/year on it, tops. So I guess it boils down to "will it last me the 4 years in college"
You can get quite a few miles out of pretty much any car as long as you regularly maintain it
That's a given, I just want to know the average lifetime of a C4 Corvette.
For example, given similar maintenance records, 150,000 mi on a Civic is like 100,000 mi on a Taurus. So I wanna know how much that 122,000 mi on the red C4 is towards what is basically EOL.
It should last, I don't think they had any reliability issues on that generation. Even if something fails, they're cheap to repair.
Our 99 Accord had almost 400k miles on it when it was totaled. Was Running strong until it met a hard object.
Yeah, hard objects don't interface well with other hard objects.
I know in a twin turbo system you need 2 waste gates, but do you also need 2 blow-off valves? (This would be a standard twin turbo set up, not just 2 redundant ones.)
wrong, you can have only one wastegate (external) depending on your setup/manifold, but two wg make it simpler.
no about the 2 bov, because both turbo goes into the same IC and TB
Fuck waste gates get dose
Got our insurance policy for next sixth months, 1854$ for full coverage on (Including collision etc)
98 Accord (2 Accidents)
99 Grand Prix (No Accidents)
98 Camry (One major accident)
If you put money into it, don't expect the engine to need a re-build for a while. Even average reliability engines often last well past 200,000 miles. I often don't see re-builds until around 175,000 miles, so that car wouldn't need a re-build for atleast half a decade, if not a decade.
And as long as you replace things that break, you shouldn't need any reason to re-build it. Change the oil regularly, etc etc.
My dad and I went to test drive a Porsche Carrera today. I was a great time.

Finally got around to watching the Senna documentary/film last night, was fantastic, only to realise that I was watching it on the eve of his death, what a coincidence
My blazer has 240k on the original engine, all thats been replaced are the seals. It still has fuck loads of torque, runs good, is super smooth, and doesn't blow smoke. It doesn't idle for shit but that's a fuel problem.
Why is it that even with all dat power, and virtually no weight in the back hanging over that massive bed, and with tiny-ass tires, he still had to roll backwards to get the tires to break loose before being able to burn out?

I mean, unless it was just to reposition himself, but that's what it looked like.
WHAT YOU DON'T LIKE AMERICAN CARS? OBVIOUSLY YOU HATE ALL AMERICAN CARS.
His personal burnout technique?
Some roll back, others dump from a dig
How hard is it to get window paint of someone's car? (i assume just a car-wash)
kind of need an answer... quick
Badass. I'll take 3 please. Without the mufflers.
Fuck mufflers man, Straight piping my 70' with some long tube headers once she's road worthy
>register as classic
>no inspection
>not inspected so they dont know how many miles i put on it in a year
awwwwww yeeeaahhhh
Ah, I've always just clutch dumped the shit out of it from a stand still, never seen anyone do it like that.

I used to own a big redneck murrica truck as well, if you don't remember.
I've got USAA and for me as the only name on the title, and the only driver of my truck it's like 70 bucks a month. Granted I'm on my parents insurance. >.>

TO THE DOG CANCER
Hey guys, I just failed my driving test for the first time. I was nervous and I only had been driving for 6 days, and my instructor just rushed and made an appointment for me at the DMV. I just wanted to ask you you read the grading sheet for CA. I didn't bother asking my examiner at the time because I was severely disappointed. What do the circles, slashes, and numbers mean?
![]()
I shall attempt to read it!
(Looks like you fail at driving)
Yuuppp translation complete.
Failed Parallel Parking.
Failed your Yield And Traffic Check.
Failed at controlling your vehicle. (Steering Wheel)
Failed at a Light/stop sign (Failed to stop at the line or gave too much of a gap behind the line)
Everything else is in the notes that I cant read for shit.
And LOLOLOL @ "Examiner had to pull emergency break"
Here you go:
Part 4 may still be processing, but if you care enough to watch all of it (Which i myself actually felt entertained enough to do) it should be done by the time you get to it. It's a fun watch i think, if you've never been up there.
Edited:
It's all raw, unedited footage. Didn't bother to edit out any stupid mistakes i make, like the first minute of the first video... haha...
Dat ricer (Mustang?) in 1/4, 10:10
Also, I hate California emissions tests. Super restrictive. I gotta get my ancient thing to pass smog to get the title transfered. Also, gotta pay lotsa fees upfront.
Oh, so that clears up the slashes, thanks.
How about the numbers, 1-4, and the circles?
The numbers are usually scores, 1 being the best, and 4 the worst.
To give an example, say there's 30 different sections, and you score excellent (1) on most, and good (2) on some others. Let's say the total is 38-42, that's good, but if you did poor (3) or very poor (4), your score might look like a 80-100+.
Hope that clears it up!
