I can't wait to do the turbo swap for my volvo and make it a true Turbobrick.

I remember a month or two ago, everyone was talking about the advantages to driving manual vs automatic, and some people screaming(well, arguing) back and forth at each other. I mentioned that i would be learning to drive a manual when i got my new car, which i got a month ago, and someone replied with 'you're going to hate it'.
I have to say, it wasn't that hard to learn. I was worried i wouldn't be able to coordinate both of my feet, the gear selector, and work the steering wheel at the same time. I couldn't ever play drums for this reason, so i was concerned.
It took me about a day and a half of putting around the neighborhood, stalling, and doing burnouts to get the hang of it enough to go on main roads. After a few more days of driving, it became effortless. Now, about a month later, it's second nature.
My opinion, after learning to drive in an automatic, and driving an automatic for 7 months; manual is just better if you're a driver. What i mean by a 'driver' is someone who thinks about how i car is to actually drive, before thinking about if it has a sunroof and satellite navigation.
There is nothing wrong with owning an automatic, or driving one, it's just a less exciting experience.
Apprantly my Craigslist ad was still up because I got an offer for a trade 86 z28 305. It makes me think, should i be smart and take the mustang or pursue my old car dream?
Friend got his license today
93 v6 mustangs are slow as fuck
he let me drive it though, jesus fuck rwd is fun
Oh good. I'm in the same spot as you, I can never play drums on rock-band because I'm un-coordinated so I'm worried about buying a manual but I'm sure I'll pick it up quickly.
And I think I'd rather have a RWD Stock car than a FWD Ricer Box. So I guess I'll take Bradley's advice and go with the 240SX. It's not exciting to look at but I'm sure it's a lot more fun than an old Prelude.
Heh.
Like I've said before. 17 year old female chavs manage it.
I honestly don't think anyone could fail to drive a manual unless they either had a learning disability or a physical disability.
I honestly don't get why everyone has to argue with us when we say manuals are more fun to drive.
Because then they decide one day they will try it and come here to tell us about how awesome it is and about how they never should have listened to the autobros or whatever the case may be.
OR It's all a personal preference.
Like how some people like point and click games more than any other type, just like how some people prefer RTS's or something.
To the Point and Click people, all that simple interaction is all they need for enjoyment.
I think after a while of driving standard, I might want an automatic again (Eating while driving is so convenient) but I understand that forcing myself to not be distracted with cell phones, food, etc is probaly a good thing.
I want a fucking camaro but not that v6 bullshit. WHY CANT I AFFORD ANYTHING
Just found this video of the karting track at VIR that I raced at.
Really makes me want to go back for another run.
I've driven manuals and automatics, it's really on a car to car basis to me. I generally prefer manual, but I've driven some things where I liked the automatic better.
In diesel pickups, I would much rather have a manual. My father's Ford F250 with the 7.3l PowerStroke Turbo Diesel has the 6 spd and it feels great holding a gear shift controlling 600+ ft lbs of torque in your hand.
In gasoline pickups, it depends. In 4wd trucks, I prefer automatic as long as it's a 3spd. Anything more than that and I would like a manual. In 2wd trucks, I would always rather have a manual.
In SUV's, I prefer automatic.
In cars, I prefer manual. Except in Subaru's. I drove my friend's manual '97 Legacy GT and it felt strange to me. I liked my manumatic or whatever much more than the manual.
I'm going to the Nürburgring at the end of June and taking the Racing Puma, I can't wait!
Going to take my drivers at 3:00 PM today, fuck yeah. Going to ace it.
Good luck, Valon.
I can't imagine racing on the nurburgring in real life. It has the most insane high speed sections.
Which reminds me, i think one of my front brake rotors is warped. I get some heavy vibration under heavy braking at higher speeds (anything above 60mph), and it feels like it's coming from my front end.
scotty kilmer is hilarious
Just snowed like a foot and a half, time to go learn how to drift wooooo
Edited:
Any tips?
Yeah, don't.
Drifting isn't and never was cool. Real drivers don't care how close to a wall they can slide, they care how far ahead of the others they are.
Don't let go of your handbrake button while doing handbrake slides.
I'm only going to be doing it in empty parking lots, it's not like I'll be doing it on busy roads
I hope it's a big parking lot. Drifting in the snow means even your front tires won't hold traction, unless you have damn good snow tires.
lol you're just like i was
and then i went drifting
Hey man, drifting is a popular sport and there's no reason to hate on it. And the 240SX used market has took off incredibly because of drifting. You may not think it's cool but some do. The AE86 has become incredibly popular because of the 'Drift King' (He jump-started the drift scene with his AE86) and Initial D.
Yeah, there's some pretty big parking lots around here. I gotta wait till night for them to be empty, though
There is drifting, and there is 16 year old kids in parking lots doing handbrake turns around wheely bins trying to give a girl a crisis that call what they are doing drifting.
Bit of a difference from my perspective, and what do you think people are talking about most of the time when they say "I'm going drifting"?
Edit: Maybe I'm just getting old and cynical but I see these kids who obviously ruin their cars and break bumpers just so they can tie them back up with zipties that look like ghetto shoe string patterns and it makes me sick.
I had respect for you, but now?
you can go fuck right off.
I thought cars were about having fun, not who's the fastest, who the fuck gives a shit?
Edited:
ahh... you don't have nothing against track drifting... then it's ok.
Edited:
though i still think cars are for having fun no matter what you do with them.
Today was my first time snowdrifting with my own car too
it looks kinda lame when i see it now, felt like i was going way more sideways![]()

Welp, going to put up the tent this weekend.
Going to attempt to fix some stuff on my car then possibly put it up for sale.
70% sure im going to buy that mustang II, If not then i may buy this ~85 f150 2wd 4speed that is clean as shit other than the paint.
I wonder where the picasso ranks. I can;t imagine it being a thief magnet.
I thought my car was in really good condition, but then i see every other civic of the same year and they look brand new still. :< Why did my car have to live in New Orleans/Birmingham Alabama it's who life? It runs great though, and the interior is like 9/10, so i can't complain. Also, it's free to me, because i'm lucky to have parents like that so i doubly can't complain. I'm very fortunate.
It's been rear-ended decently hard, and keyed in several places. I also think a shopping cart hit it in the back because there is a new scuff from no where. I feel like there is a new scuff every day.
The mustang guy never called back. So tonight i'm going to look at this:
