Keep a notebook for patches. I'm sure a MIDI module isn't too expensive.

Does anyone know how to make this synth? It seems kind of simple but I haven't had any luck.

    It starts at 0:35ish
This is a little late but I made something that sounds just like it.

Posting for anyone that might be interested in Sytrus. Great way to get into FM synthesis, and of course, based on your preferences (if you even want to switch), once familiar, it's very easy to get into FM8 from there.

    Made by this guy:

    Edited:

Man fuck, I thought I found a gem on tewbs (man 80s guys fucking knew how to make synths):

Was about to sample, but holy shit did it already get what it deserved (great track):

I would like to get into making electronic music, old school synth pop and industrial. Which program should I use and are there any tutorials? I'm a pianist so I know the music theory and that but I'm don't know anything about making "sounds/virtual instruments". I've only used FL Studio before.

FL Studio is fine. I recommend you to read through the documentation even if it can be a little tedious and after that practice and experimentation goes a long way. The fact that you already know music theory will get you a nice head start.

Are there any vocalists on this forum that would perhaps like to collaborate? I got a few songs I think could work really well with vocals that are posted below

    Genre : Pop Punk

    Genre : Stoner-influenced Rock

    Genre : Raw Rock&Roll

    Genre : Rock&Roll

    Genre : Oldschool metal

(Genres may not be entirely accurate, the genres written are the closest genre I can think of however, and I'd like to think that I've developed a partly original style).

If you are interested in collaborating with me and producing similar style of music posted above (I've also done some techno-inspired music where we maybe can work together in too? It will be posted later) then hit me up with a pm or write here in thread and just give it a go, I have not thought of any melodies or lyrics to either of the songs but just scream your heart out on whatever subject you want to tell a story about

(Combining happy melodies with dark and brooding rhytmhs)

(Combining slow drums with menacing melodies)

(I don't know how to describe this one, except... bland I guess )

There was an ambient electronic album at one point, can't remember how that went, but we also had a rock album which just died out.

It does not have to be really strict, just a vague theme and songs built around that theme unlike the concept album that was very anal about the concept and ~how it had to fit into what AK'z thought was the concept~

Went to a secret studio with some friends last night and played some neato music. Friend was bass, other was drums, another was guitar, I was synth, and Dan was boobies. It was the most amazing thing to grace my ears and I saved a bunch of synth patches I made up while we were playing, I wish I had brought my PCM recorder. Seriously, it was gnarly.

I'll definitely record it next time we go, that was sick as leprosy.

I understand what you're saying but whether you like it or not, somebody has to be in charge for that kind of thing. If it doesn't fit the decided concept very well, the person or people running it have every right to deny a track or ask you to change it. Otherwise it loses its initial concept very quickly and becomes a loosely connected (or completely unconnected) compilation album. I've seen both outcomes many times with various things, it's kind of crucial that somebody runs the show in a critical manner.

    They're expensive, too.

If it broke that quickly, you're better off replacing them all anyway. Bass strings don't break that often.

You didn't tune it an octave too high, did you?

You must of done something way wrong on your side to break a new bass string. Could have been the person who set it up as well.

to be perfectly honest i was tuning it way too fast, they were stock strings anyway so i'd have needed to replace them soon
