IDK. It looks like a photo of a photo on a computer screen. My point is that it doesn't look like a game engine at all. (which is good if it's actually HL3 :D)

The shadow and overall shading is too good to be true. I'd bet it's a photo.
Another one trolling the Half Life community. People will start boarding the hype train again.
As nice as it'd be for it to be HL3, it is just a photo. If it's from a game, it's probably not HL3 anyways.
If it IS REAL, we should see more photos and leaks of HL3 from other people, something like this can't be in silence.
HL2 was
I want to believe
It looks a lot like the Portal 2 bridge, especially the shading/lighting

Man, if I ever want to get attention for a website or project, all I have to do is plaster some HL3 logo somewhere or leak a supposed "screenshot."
First Picture: "Seen game at gamescom. Monitor capture. Can not wait till NDA drops. Risk! Blablabla, Mr ..."
Second Picture: "Fr33man! Tell your friends!"
Third Picture: "Last, look right on the Techscreens. If you wait three times on it half his life:"

oshit
Very very interesting.
But gamescom only ran from the 16th to the 19th ?
I'm legitimately excited right now.
Perhaps he waited to decide whether he should risk getting sued or not
The guy who posted these images seems to work for a fairly large German gaming website. His photos on twitter do indicate that he was at GamesCom

I want to believe.
please be real.
Yep, those sure are some nifty handrails.
valve introduces ground breaking features to upcoming "Half-Life 3" game
introducing highly detailed handrails that seemingly have no other purpose other than for aesthetic purposes!
POLLOS
My heart cannot take it anymore so I'm trying hard not to board the hype train.
I like how people are saying "It doesn't look like Source though!". I can only say... should it? I mean, if they're working on a whole new next-gen iteration of Source, I can only imagine that their flagship title is going to make full use of its features, and would likely look substantially different to any current Source engine game. Besides, we're all going spoogey over a picture of a railing anyway.
Hell, it looks like it could have been snapped from Duke Nukem Forever even...
Not stepping on the hype until there is confirmation.
Oh christ here we go again with probably more disappointment.
It's just some rails, stairs and a goddamn wall. There's no screen...
You can't get dissapointed if you don't get your hopes up.![]()
Hell, I get my hopes up on an uncontrollable, subconscious level every time this game is mentioned. I've gotta say though, this is the first time in years I've been disappointed this many times in a month when it came to hoping for news on the next Half Life.
So there was a chance HL3 was at GamesCom all along, but only for press?
wow stairs and a wall not like those ever occur in games
another rumor debunked by bomimo everybody
I just want to believe so badly at this point. Maybe Half Life 3 was on that list by mistake, and it really wasn't meant to be there because it was a secret press event. Everyone just kept it cool and acted like it was nothing so we'd believe all they hype was fake like it has been. Oh god I can feel the rainbows.
just spitballing here, but he might be trying to keep it ambiguous enough that he can't get chewed out for violating the NDA while still building hype, mainly with the text accompanying it.
it could also be a giant red herring that won't lead up to anything and will be debunked in a few days.
Hey did tip toe around the words 'half life 3' and 'Freeman' by ambiguously breaking half life 3 up and doing the whole fr33man bit. So who knows.
Technically, it's a picture of a screen. That, or it's a really blurry game where you fight mouse cursors.
Until Valve announces it themselves, I am not buying into the hype any more. Hell, Game Informer could have a 30 page cover story on it next month and I still wouldn't believe it until Gabe Newell personally says, "It lives."
... Alright, I lied. If GI had a cover story, then I'd probably believe it but this is getting way out of hand now.
Only proof this came from a computer is the mouse cursor.
That could be anything, for all we know, he made the map and took a picture of it
The wall looks likes eroded metal.
Edited:
If Valve is really tight lipped on this I'm not sure how he could have possibly snapped these pictures
Unless he was really lucky not to get noticed.
Maybe the door was cracked open?![]()
idk its not like they have armed guards at the doors and clearly its in a dark room
he probably just slipped his phone out of his pocket and quickly snapped some pics walking by, one of the pics is all motion blurred because he was moving the cam when he took the pic
The pictures look really candid and unfocused. I could see them being from a hidden camera. Maybe Valve will start requiring a metal detector test for everyone coming in.
