Ordered this bad boy from the Valve Store a couple days back.

I know nothing about the American sizing thanks to living in Australia, so I just ordered the XL because that's the size my Aussie hoodies are.

    If it doesn't fit me I swear I'll cry. ;_;

I'm not sure I've ever had my chest measured, but I'm a pretty tall guy, around 6'1" or 6'2".
I'm not overweight, but I'm not skinny either; s'pose slightly above average in that regard.

XL will probably fit you alright. L might be better. I'm about the same height, and I'm an L, but I'm also pretty skinny.

the "shepard was insane" theory sort of falls apart when you consider the Pit Worm and the Gene Worm bosses

that's a big-fucking-scientist coming out of a giant whirly science portal there

You know, i used to beleive this theory.

But thanks to busting my gut at that picture, i dont even want to consider taking it seriously now.

    Wild speculation.

Because it could be a lot of things.

The open world rumor is likely complete bullshit, for nothing to back it up and no reason for it to happen anyway.

    Yes.

There's been references in SFM's files pointing towards a "Source 2" or "Source Successor" plus various updated icons for Hammer and other stuff.

And what with all the major engine improvements done to Source (like ambient occlusion, cascaded shadow mapping, fxaa, etc.) they're looking to make it a lot more modern and possibly compete with Unreal Engine, CryEngine, Frostbite 2, etc.

How do you not think that they're going to further update Source? Even if it is not 'Source 2' Valve is most definitely working to improve the engine in a drastic way for the pending release of Hl3/Hl2E3.

I think what he means is that they are updating the engine like they do all the time but it isn't getting a fancy name like 'Source 2' because the whole point of Source is that you can update it easily and not be forced to make a new engine every 5 years. They probably don't want to go down the Crytek route and release a 'new' engine with a new number but without any big changes.

I really hope that when he is explained, he doesn't become any less interesting. That tends to happen when some mysteries are solved.
Ha, that second video of the meeting is better than I remember, I think I completely forgot that it showed you where mossman would appear later and the rocket that would go up later, as well as magnusson.

this argument is literally the worst because

no one ever expected anything aside from... you know, ep3/hl3 unless they're stupid.

The "Hype makes a game shitty" argument is retarded. No, a hype doesn't actually change a games mechanics, it just makes more people buy it faster. That's all, literally. I'm not kidding.

That plus when people think of things that they except to see in hl3/ep3, they don't literally mean "Oh this is what I'll see" it's "what we could or could not see".

And anyone who compares this to DNF is mentally insane.

I mean it's not like people are posting

"this is what I expect to see if valve doesn't do it I WILL KILL MYSELF!!!!!!!"

The game world is absolutely massive and will push both Xbox and PS3 to the very limit in terms of what it has accomplished. Yes, the main city is simply Los Santos however is it AT LEAST 4 times bigger than Liberty City in GTA 4 and that is just Los Santos. The surrounding country side, beaches, etc are massive. For instance, we saw the main character (an African/American, early 30′s) travel by car from the center of Los Santos into the wildnerness and it took over 15 minutes. The views were incredible from farmhouses with cattle, huge wind farms, an oil refinery which appeared to be living and breathing with nearly 100 NPCs working on machinery, operating vehicles, lifting and loaded, etc, unlike the gas works in GTA 4 which seemed to only house a few NPC at a time. The forests are more beautiful than those in RDR and featured people camping, young NPC drinking and dancing around campfires, people riding dirt bikes and jumping over logs, streams, etc. The water effects, forna, plants, trees all looked beautiful.
The shooting mechanics have been greatly improved with animations for diving, climbing, rolling and crawling all added for better realism. The re-loading animations for new ammo also look cooler, less static.
There is much more climbable elements in the world such as ladders, overhand climbing, etc.
There are planes to pilot and they can be crashed into buildings if you choose to do so….)
The city is full of NPCs jogging, weight-lifting, hitting on women, being chased on foot by cops, shopping, washing cars, fixing fences, moving home, filling up their cars, etc.

Usually when a new/updated sdk comes out, its with a new/updated engine. Yes it might not be called "source 2" but I most certainly think we will be seeing a new source sooner then later.
