I would say don't worry so much, take a few calls from some guys and find someone who is around your skill level. Don't find some badass ego hungry asshole because chances are he will get "bored" with you and leave.
It is best to just find some guys to jam around with and in any case it could help you improve your playing and maybe you will find someone who writes music and will teach you their ways.
I tell people with this, if you get together with a few guys and jam. Chances are you won't need to read music. Just play something that sounds awesome to you and maybe the guy playing drums will come up with a beat and the bassist will start making up something. If you have a second guitarist maybe he will start playing along. Don't be afraid to put yourself on the chopping block, if you wanna play you just play.

I'm getting really horrible vibrations on my low E string. Anyone got any ideas how to fix it?

depends on the thickness of your pick
2mm picks are hard to get in there

That should at least clear the possible mud that gibson-esque tend to have, but x2n doesn't sound too pretty on neck, from my experience. At least on my "V" the cleans are kind of decent when volume rolled down to around halfway.

X2N is worthless as a guitar pup, stick it in a bass at the bridge though and you've got sex everywhere

Yeah, about my earlier post on the pickups. I play a lot of different styles.. That's why I'm looking for very polyvalent pickups. I play stuff from Judas Priest/Metallica/Megadeth/Dio to Red Hot Chili Peppers/Pink Floyd/The Kinks

I have a '59 in my Ibanez in the bridge and holy mother of god that is one amazing pickup. So clear but it still has a lot of punch if you want it. Very universal, I can play anything from jazz to metal on my '59. I combined it with a super 2 in the neck and together when the pickups are at the right heights it almost sounds acoustic, a lot of thump from the neck pickup and then the '59 comes in with the highs.

It's an epiphone, also with past experience on dragonfire pickups, they seem to work really well.
So don't go with high output rails?

Didn't know those were dragonfire, thought they were dimarzio. I have no experience what so ever with dragonfire's, but if they are 1:1 copy of dimarzio, they are not well suited for cleans, or to be neck-pickup, due to massive output. Also my x2n(7) sounds pretty harsh when doing leads, so it wont sound pretty, that's for sure.
They're extremely solid pickups(dimarzio's, don't know about dragonfire's), perfect clean metal playing when gain (on amp) is not all cranked up. They're not that great for much else, as far as i can tell.
I personally prefer pickups that are medium-high output, below 10k on neck and bit above on bridge, with ceramics. It's personal preference, of-course.

I like around 8k on neck and 12 on bridge for singles, and 12/16 for humbuckers, but really the most important part of my guitar tone is a fresh set of stainless rounds. on bass though, I'm still aiming for that glorious tone in stuck in the middle with you.

I would, but they are stupid, they only listed either the bridge or neck, not both. So i'm like wtf?
I've used their strat hotrail pickups, no problems whatsoever.

I am finding myself refreshing the UPS page for my new guitar every 5 minutes, I feel like Scott Pilgrim right now.
Trying to figure out what pickups I am gonna shove in this thing as well, I love my '59 but I might go for something with a little more output. I might borrow the '59 out of my Ibanez to try it out and see if I like it.

I need some recommendations on a eight string around 800 dollars with CA tax and shipping. I've seen a couple hellraiser specials but at the same time i've been seeing a new damien elite and then a agile.

First, you probably ought to actually go somewhere which has the guitars in question, and see if you like how they feel at all. Nothing worse than being stuck with something you realize you don't entirely like after a while. You ought to be able to find an Ibanez store with an RGA8, which is about the best you're going to do in that price range. However, the pickups are not ideal and it's routed for actives, which means replacement options are limited. If you're wanting different features, that's where you look at Agile/Schecter, the former has stuff routed for passives or blackouts/emgs stock, if that's what your heart desires, with and without trems. Schecter, same deal, except I don't think any of their eights have passives. Either way, the shape is going to be the same on all three except for Agile's "Intrepid" line, which I can't speak to, but you can find reviews of I'm sure on Sevenstring.org.
Personally, I think Schecters look gaudy, but I think any of the three is going to be a solid choice and it's really up to what stock equipment and look you want, and any personal impressions you can get from finding one in a store in your area (or with the Agile, anybody on the internet willing to jam).

I really don't want a bolt on like the rga8. Plus i would probably switch the pickups. And i like the agile, but then again i'm not sure about scale length, i mean bass is no problem for me, but anything really bigger than a 27-28 scale kinda is like i won't be as fast playing. Which is okay. The schecter, i can get a hell raiser special with a 26 inch scale and actives. it or an new damien 8 is a good choice for me. the damien 8 i would have a problem with the bolt on neck. Agiles i would love but they're about 100 dollars outta my range.

On another note, I've been cranking my amp and playing without my TS9 for a while. My wah was running low on battery and therefore made a loud squeal whenever I switched it on and off, so I just did a straight amp to guitar setup for a while. I love it. Then I kick on the TS9 for an extra kick if I need it. I really want to record the sound.
I also started singing and I feel as though I'm pretty decent for singing blues rock. I've still got a lot to learn though

I never got the hate for spiders, they are a cheap enough way to get a decant choice of tones. They may not be professional sounding but they are good enough for recording for a hobby.

Oh god, guys, I think I have a serious Schecter problem. I'm driving along in my work van around lunch time today, and I see a garage sale with some music stuff out front. I pull over, and when I leave my wallet has $100 less in it and this thing is in my front seat. That makes Schecter number 3 on my wall...
Nearest I can tell, it's a 1999 Schecter S-1. According to the Vault section of their website, it's 24.75", mahogany, jumbo-medium frets, and "Duncan Designed" (*cough*bullshit*cough) HB-102s. The hardtail is weird, Schecter really doesn't use them that much. The later S-1s went to stop tails.
The strings are shit, a pickup ring is broken and it's dirty, but overall it seems to be a pretty solid instrument. Some new strings and a little cleaning job should make it serviceable. $100 will barely get you a used Omen 6, so I didn't do that badly.
Does anybody else know more about these things? I really can't find that much information about the hardtail S-1s apart from the little blurb on Schecter's site:
