    Why? P's are awesome.
just a kind of change in my taste of music brought the p bass because i was really into iron maiden and other heavy metal so i brought one because steve harris used one but now i am really into rush and geddy lee is a god and his jazz bass sounds awesome. the p bass is more one dimensional than the jazz bass in my opinion in that you can only really get one sound out of it

The Precision does only do one sound, but it's a good sound. You can usually get some good tonal versatility if you get a P/J. If you wanted to get that J tone, see if you can get that P routed for a bridge J pickup (as long as you don't mind modding your bass). Most of the Jazz's tone comes from the bridge pickup.

Then again, you could try and pick up a cheap secondhand Jazz.

Bro pbasses have tons of sounds. You got regular p, p with flats, p with rotosounds, p with a mute

    Yeah that's about it

geddy lee's tone isn't really jazz bass like somehow. Most of it is how hard he digs in, but a lot of it is in his amp

In that first video it's a P bassy kinda tone. In the second one though you can really hear the nasally tone of the Jazz bridge.

geddy lee's tone doesn't rely on the jazz bass. i'm thinking he plays one more for comfort because they are pretty much more comfortable than a p-bass.

geddy's tone is all about pulling REAL real hard on the strings with two fingers through a really hot amp that distorts easily.

if anything it sounds more like a Rickenbacker bass but those are uncomfortable as shit to play.

I like the neck on precisions better personally, but the sound of a jazz beats any precision. Geddy's tone is like a ric with more midrange punch

I bought an acoustic bass the other day. Spent just about all the money I have. No regrets. only hours of awesomeness.

Fender BG-31. No pictures because my phone is being weird. Got it used for 300. No nicks or missing parts or anything lol

    EGDDBD?
    what's the problem?

keep your bottom E string the same, tune your A string down a whole step, keep your D string the same, tune down your G string 5 semi-notes, keep your B string the same, and tune down your top E string down a whole step.

finger the third fret on the low E string and match it with the A string, play an open note on the D and match it with the G, match the high E to either of the Ds

I had to drill into my explorer today to move the strap button, kind of worth it in the end though. No more neck dive.

yeah I figured it'd be better for what I like to play to get used to tapping with my middle finger rather than figuring out how to move the pick around in my hand

Well I'm back from my ranch trip.

Brought along my band and we played all our music for a good 5+ hours. Everyone there went through an ounce of weed, 5 handles of tito's vodka, and I had 12 cuban cigars there. We broke the golf cart, popped a car tire, and blasted our music at 11. Everyone danced and went nuts for the entire 5 hours.

At one point we drove the golf cart and it broke in the middle of no where, so I was drunk as fuck and had to walk to the house and drive it out in the 500+ acres to get my friends and come back.

That's the time where you learn to never drink and drive.

I hope my friends have some recordings of the night. It was a 20 minute voodoo child of shit goin down.

I honestly feel a permanent high right now. But I meant to say I had to drive a car out in the 500+ acres of land to get my friends and come back. I'll rewrite it.

I was drunk as fuck and we thought it'd be a good idea to play music whilst driving around the land. We went really far out and the golf cart broke/battery died. So we pushed it for a while but we were so drunk we almost puked, so I walked back to our starting point (a house) and got the car, drove it out to where the golf car twas, picked up my friends, and drove back.
