Smart stay I'm pretty sure.
Smart stay I'm pretty sure.
Ok I think I have managed to brick my phone for real
I misclicked something in the format menu in CWM (Needed to wipe system for the new rom) and now my phone doesn't boot, the cwm doesn't detect anything (No sdcard, no system, nothing) and my phone is not being detected by odin anymore
Totally saw that coming.
Three days ago ome kind guy made a tool to recover from that
I am a really lucky idiot
Edited:
Damn it, now it doesn't turn on at all
I might have just killed a perfectly fine phone because of my stupidity
SmartStay is remade in several versions already, including a port of the SmartStay.apk made to work with more phones.
Personally I like EyeSpy the most. (test app to see if your phone can work with EyeSpy before purchasing) < Holy shit the reviews of the test app, what the fuck.
The call thing is being made in OpenDesign (CM devs remaking some of the most popular features from custom manufacturer ROMs): http://opendesign.bbqdroid.org/featu...at=2&feature=4

wait what, bricked Samsung Galaxy phone? How
I have absolutely no idea, I thought I knew what I was doing (I mean I am not a "proffesional haxorz" but I installed more than a dozen of different roms on my phone) but then the cwm just broke. After successfully (!) flashing the 100% correct files through odin it just stopped turning on, at all.
just read on my carriers blog that my nexus s is getting an update to jellybean tomorrow, thats pretty quick isn't it? Have Google even released the nexus s version yet ota?
still excited everything's coming together
That's kinda bullshit, European Nexus S owner here and no OTA JB yet.
Seems like it is gonna happen:

But did they just build it from source themselves?
edit: wait, it seems like this is the genuine Google OTA, which should start rolling out tomorrow, but Vodafone won't delay it at all.
Oh yeah, not saying it's impossible to make work, just that it might be more hackish than usually required.
Yeah, I'm not sure what I'm doing. It just kernel panicked over and over according to the logcat so I'm not gonna fuck with it for now.
I swear Google are playing mind games with me, they sent me an E-Mail today saying that the 16GB N7's would be shipping next week yet I came home after work today and it was waiting for me.

Also are there any good apps for tablets?
Solid is awesome and free, dual panes and ICS looks would be a buy for me if the dev releases a pro key or version (or donation)

Learn how to actually use it first, don't dive into rooting, flashing ROMs and other stuff.
Rooting is fine, just flash cf-root and you're good. Flashing ROMs, I'd wait with that until you know every option of the stock rom and are missing stuff.
Got my Galaxy Nexus today!! anyone know any good apps i should try?
I have a choice of the Droid Bionic or the RAZR MAXX in August.
I love the bionic, but it's thick and somewhat the same as my current Droid 3. I love the RAZR, but the AMOLED screen annoys me with it's greenish looking whites.
Tasker got a big update today, and creation of standalone apps from tasks and JS integrationlook interesting to have a play with.
The change list is as long as my arm.
Droid Razr Maxx is fucking fantastic. The battery lasts forever and it's not really noticable after a little bit. Colors in general are more crisp, anwyay.
Did you wipe using an ICS kernel? If so, that is likely the issue. Samsung's ICS kernels can potentially fuck up the eMMC to the point that only Samsung engineers would have access to the tools needed to fix it.
If you can still boot up anything at all, there is still hope.
so uh
how do I root htc evo 3d? I tried the temp root so i can backup my stuff, but "temp root file" is unavailable
Anybody had similiar issue like mine? After rooting and installing CM7 for Wildfire S (unoffical from xda forums) everything is working fine except one thing. I can't access CM settings. Whenever I try to go there whole process (com.android.settings) freeze and the only thing I can do is close it.
What are some good games to play on my device?
Find some way to get temproot or just pull your info off for backup, and then use juopunutbear for permanent root.
What device? Tegra 3?
Only a few posts up..

Hmm, does Steam mobile work on Jelly Bean for anyone else? It won't run on the Xoom or my Inspire 4G with a CM10 KANG..
Whoops. Also, Steam mobile works fine on my Nexus 7 running 4.1.1.
GTA III, Dead Trigger, and Shadowgun would presumably work on the GNexus, though I'm not 100% sure on that. To be quite honest, the play store recommendations aren't half bad.
and if I do perma-root, can I pair my PS3 controller and use it with Onlive?
Have been considering about rooting my GS3.
Does rooting your phone have any side effects?
You void any warranty you still have, and some root exploits will block OTA updates depending on the device. There's also the inherit risk of doing something wrong and just all out bricking your device.
Rooting your phone has no risks. It's easily unrootable if you need to turn it in for warranty. You're not going to brick your device with a root exploit lol
Working fine for me on EOS JB nightlies
So can I root my N7 and still use my warranty?
Edited:
I might have a play with the DPI settings.
As long as you unroot your device if you ever need to take it in for warranty, it is practically untracable. I remember my old HTC Legend had always had a faulty SD card slot and would often corrupt and break cards. Obviously my device was rooted because who doesn't and I just flashed stock firmware before taking it back to my carrier to get fixed. No fucks given (eventually the problems reoccured another two times and I got a free SGS)
I unrooted my Galaxy Ace once so I could use a bank app but somehow the app could still tell that the phone had been rooted previously.
I think there are ways to tell if a device has been rooted but maybe they just don't care so much.
If it's pingit I believe it checks for the SU binary at /system/bin/su
Yeah it probably looked for SU, Busybox or anything I wanted to bitch about
By the way, there are a bunch of 1p computer books on the play store, listed here
So it turns out I can turn in my Galaxy S2 for £200 and my One X for £201.
What is this shit?!?!
Edited:
Good price for S2 though!
I'm really tempted by an S3 for some reason though.....
