The primary problem i have with any rail mount on an Ak(at least, of those i've seen) is that unlike a PSO-1 or Kobra or similar sight where you can still use the sights if you need to, this would obviously make that completely impossible.

True, but AK sights are pretty bad so it's not a huge loss. The only issue I can see is if your sight craps out, and then you can remove it and aim down the rail which I think is good enough for airsoft.

They're making a version where the rail can be used as a rear sight when you remove the optic from it iirc.
