So I went to a preview screening of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and I saw like 10 minutes and the projector fucked up. So we got free tickets to see it tomorrow after they sort it out (I was annoyed as fuck, takes me an hour to walk to the cinema). But first 10 minutes with some weird stuff happening to it or something I don't even know.

    I give the first 10 minutes 7/10

I thought it was really cheesy, it had some funny parts which I guess earn it a few points. I didn't like how they suddenly tried to go for a really emotional scene near the end, it felt really unnatural and it was totally out of the blue.

I remember seeing a bit of it. I have to say, I wasn't quite getting what the fuck was happening, maybe I was tired at the time.

Was it meant to be a kids movie?

    I guess

I mean they swore a couple times and this swamphag thing gets her head lopped off but other than that the violence isn't graphic at all

its really cheesy and the characters don't react to things like they should and just ugh

maybe i'd have liked it more if i wasn't sick as a dog while watching it??, that's been known to affect my outlook on things in the past, i'll give it another shot once im better

    saw a couple this week:

    Kinyarwanda
If you've seen Hotel Rwanda, you need to see this as well. It's very different to the feel of Hotel Rwanda, in that it is directly about the pain that was caused by the genocide. Hotel Rwanda was great too, don't get me wrong, I actually felt sick that this occurred in my lifetime.

However, with this representation, it shows the heart of the people, even some who committed those atrocities were shown as people with heart. I really loved this movie, probably more than Hotel, for the shear reality to it. Hotel Rwanda is Africa's Schindler's List, maybe this is Africa's The Pianist.

    Take Shelter

Michael Shannon plays a person who has been moved completely by the dreams he has, his fear of the dreams he has about a storm causes him to take action and believe that they're going to happen.

Yes, it sounds kind of cliche, but the performance by this man... wow. Worth watching just for this amazing actor. It isn't all that intense in terms of a psychological drama, but I felt throughout that I wanted to see this through and see how this character unfolds. It isn't a disaster movie in any way, it is in ways a sceptic on what the man sees whether they be coincidental in reality or whether the dreams are a warning for himself.

My interpretation of dreams may in some way be part of why I loved this movie.

Watched Fight Club since it's been a good year since I sat down and watched it start to finish. Always great to see a scene you completely forgot about but now realize how much a sentence or two gives insight into the movie that you had missed or not realized until the end.

I was not one of those types that was completely took in by the movie but it's still one of my all time favorites.

Saturday Night Fever - 7.5/10, for the R-rated version at least. The movie isn't given enough credit - it's frightfully mature, and operates with quite a few shades of black and white. The rest of the "genre" is exploitation. Genuine as fuck. Accept no alternatives, go for the uncut original.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter - 7/10 - Starts off good, gets all serious in the middle before a great finale. I wouldn't see this in 3D though. I saw it in 2D but there was a part around the middle involving horses where my eyes got fucked up just by looking it, if I saw it in 3D I would've probably had a fit or something.

Also I know nothing about American History so this is like my only view of that period of America. Man you guys have had it rough.

    The Raven 5/10

Copy/paste the role of John Cusack from 1408, slap a cheesy love story to it and imagine it in the 18th century.
I mean I really liked his acting and role the first 10 minutes or so, because it felt so genuine and realistic. But then, like in 1408, he slowly turns mad and over dramatizes everything which i really wished not to happen.

The scenes didn't tie that well together, the story felt uninteresting because of all the anti-climatic scenes.

I thought it would be a 6 at its worst but even my low expectation wasn't low enough.

It would've been better if they had explored Andrew's past a bit more, such as his obsession with filming and how his father became abusive.

Very funny if you like Wes Anderson's style. The story is somewhat silly, but the message behind it is very solid.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Chopper - 7/10

The action scenes were pretty amazing, and it was over the top enough to be funny. "Entertaining" is definitely a word for this movie.

    Brave - 7/10

Watched it while I was in a bad mood, so that may impact the score, but it was extremely predictable, down to where I predicted exact motions some characters would make. Otherwise, enjoyable kid's movie.

Michael Douglas pays company to take over his life and make it a game, he is fooled around to the brink of death and he doesn't realise it. I'm probably spoiling this all for you, and I'm sorry. But
