Anyways, just bought a JG BAR10 from Dogtag Airsoft's reopening sale today. I regret selling this gun years ago, nice to have one again. Just need more mags.
I want to get a new AEG for somewhat of a support role. How well would the ICS L86a2 fit it? It is either that, or probably an m249 from a&k or something along those lines.
Agree for: (ICS) L86
Funny for: (A&K) M249
Late for: Keep searching
L86A2
Sexy, functional, unique, no shitty micro-switch trigger problems, sexy, and versatile
so airsoft being legalized soon..

not sure if want
eugh dat stock
can be changed, folding stock would be better..
You also might not want a gbbr/gbb as your first gun. More maintenance, more expensive, etc. Plus WE is a mixed bag depending on what gun of theirs you get.
No, you don't want. If you want a GBBR AK, get the GHK AKM
Okay.
A&K M60s are a lot better than their 249s, which have horrible problems with trigger switches catching on gears and an unreliable microphone-activated box mag. The L86 is cool, but it uses magazines, which limits how long you can fire continuously for and requires frequent winding or reloading, and the gearbox isn't as simple as the M60's which makes it a little trickier to upgrade.
For perspective, to equal the 3500-round capacity of the A&K M60's box mag you'd need EIGHT 450-round hicaps, and then you'd have to keep them wound up and swap them out when they get low, which could get you killed if you run out at a bad time. It only comes with two, so unless you already have a pile of compatible hicaps throw another $100 minimum on for enough non-jam-happy magazines for sustained fire. In all that comes to about $200 over the A&K Mk43, while $50 or so would be enough to fix up the Mk43's motor and hop-up issues and make it a solid MG.
Not that the L86 is a bad gun, it's actually really nice from what I could tell when I got the chance to mess around with one, but it's more a SAW than a GPMG- a gun you treat like a rifle with more ammo that can provide covering fire in a punch, but not a dedicated support weapon. And it's great as a SAW, because the barrel counteracts the bullpup arrangement's weight distribution problem and the overall compact size makes it not much harder to use than a normal AEG. But if you want to be a support gunner, might as well go all the way. I know I'm biased because I've grown to really like A&K's M60s, but I would definitely have to recommend the Mk43 for someone who wants to try a support role. It's relatively cheap, comes with an incredibly reliable magazine, and while not especially great out of the box is very easy to fix up into a killer support gun.
I agree, however, they do make STANAG compatible motorized drum mags for this purpose. I doubt they're as reliable or high capacity as the Mk43 mag, but its a decent option.
cmag/stanag box/drum in armpit
NO THANKS
Edited:
also yes a&k mk43 (fullsize m60 if you can deal with the increased cost and weight for style points) with new barrel and hopup mods
