Would anyone who has one recommend i get one, or should i look at some other vests/plate carriers first?

I can't find any item similar. But it was on Ebay.
The only problem That I have with it is that it has some stitching coming undone on the rifle mag pouch. Easy fix. Anyway it really depends what is on yours.
Mine has a triple rifle mag pouch, An admin pouch, and 2 double pistol mag pouches. And snake style mag
upper admin pouch.

I say your's would be worth 90+S&H not no 120$ considering your's has some use to it.

Is it true that it's a good idea to store gas mags with gas in them? Apparently the pressure and oil is good for the rubber or some shit like that

Just a bit of gas, like a half second charge.
It holds pressure on the valves, which is good for the mag.
