Where the fuck do I get .23 from?

Use your filter. In the host field simply type in "dayz" and that's it.

Why does it says "You were kicked off the server" when I join the servers?

It says I can't edit the mission or something like that, it vanished before I could read it properly, when I tried to join a server. What do I do?

Download every single file from http://mediafire.com/dayz
And make a folder like this on Arma 2:OA main folder: arma 2 operation arrowhead/@dayz/Addons and put all the files in there. And play.
Remember to activate the mod in-game and than restart.
edit: Also, run OA with Combined Operation

I think these are the settings I had when running it on my GTX 460. I don't know what resolution you're running at- I was at 1680x1050 so take my advice with a grain of salt.

arma2oa.cfg FXAA setting = 7, although I suppose you could use the max setting (19) without too much of a performance hit.

As long as you've run Arma 2 at least once, OA should automatically detect it although you may have to enable it through the "Expansions" screen on the main menu.

Or add launch options to Arma: OA (-mod=@dayz;)

I think I've found out why it wasn't working, I'll test it now. I was extracting the mod to the Arma II folder rather than the OA folder.

Anyone else having the problem of not being able to return to the lobby after dying?
Nothing responded so I had to close the game.

Hah. Was in a hangar at the airfield, hiding in the corner with my G17 in hand.. I hear footsteps, a bandit comes waltzing in and moves to the opposite corner, he has an m249.
I lit him up, he turns, he doesn't get off a shot before he hits the ground - M249, 5 frag grenades, GPS, NVGs, M4 with CCO, and shitloads of ammo for both weapons are all mine. Most excellent indeed.

There's your problem, it's weird though since in the readme they say you should extract it the Arma II folder. Not sure if they just didn't add Operation Arrowhead of if it somehow works by placing it in Arma II.

That's how it works in every version but the Steam one. I think Steam is the only platform where ARMA 2 and OA get installed in different folders.

Can I play DayZ on singleplayer? I don't think I'll be able to get onto these servers any time soon.

Blegh, this game really isn't fun unless you meet up with people intentionally.
Random meetups always, ALWAYS end in death for you.
I am going to start shooting on sight people I see.

It's what I do now. If I'm in a building, and I see a guy turn the corner to come in - I blast him, I've had too many incidents where I didn't shoot, and they killed me. It's better safe than sorry to be honest. :/ It's their fault for not looking around the corner first.
I usually always try to hide and stay out of peoples way. Unless they shoot at me, then it's game on.

It turns into a vicious repeat, people shoot on sight, then those people get afraid of getting shot again so they start shooting on sight, then those people get afraid of getting shot again so they start shooting on sight
Repeat until everyone shoots on sight.

Would you rather die? Personally I'm not going to just let the guy kill me - also making the problem bigger. It's even more suspicious when they don't respond on direct chat, or side chat.

I was talking and meeting up with 7 different people on the EU2 server at night. Dunno where you guys are but I always found friendly people and my playtime is 2hours.

Is it possible to host your own dayz server? I just want to play with a friend, but it's impossible when every server is full all the time. Except the RU server, which i can't join for some reason (keep getting Bad CD Key or that the connection was lost).

Should I install the beta update if I want better game performance? Since currently my multiplayer FPS aren't really like they should be.. I am still using the latest official update/patch 1.6 or something.

Oh god now I'm in some massive hillside with loads of people just stood there, all look like zombies. Nothing is moving though, even when I walk beside them.

How I love the randomness of dayz. First house I see after being killed by someone who didn't even asked if I was friendly (and who wasn't a bandit), I find an alice backpack, enfield, loads of food and water. At first gasstation I see, more supplies with only 2 zeds in it. I decided to go for it: Kill first zed with a controlled shot to the head. 2nd zed hits me, I go unconscious for a solid minute (while having full blood etc). Dead before I could get up :(
Now to waiting longer to join again than I was alive for in the first place
