Been playing 4E with 4 other guys once a month for 6 months or so now. Great fun, easy to get into aswell, which is good because the lack of accessibility is something that always put me off 3/3.5E.
I'm a level 5 Dwarf Cleric, awwww yeah.

Derailing is the biggest issue I have dming a campaign. You don't even need to mention anything in particular with the group I play with. The game itself can manage to get them off-topic and stall the game for 20 minutes.

There's nothing worse for slowing down a game than someone paying more attention to their laptop that to what's happening.

If you're having derailing issues there's usually a couple ways you can help it.

1. No tv.

2. No wifi for laptops (some people like e-sheets because they do all the work for you)

3. No phones. Seriously, game starts phones off.

4. Talk about how people's week went (like the boring day-job part) when everyone trickles in, not something awesome you heard/saw/videogame

I've never played this before but I'm starting a game with my friend! Here's my character so far, He's a 3ft 2in high Rock Gnome Druid with leather armor and a sling. The staff is just a cosmetic walking stick. My friend Credesniper helped me with the character sheet, I drew the picture.

I once toyed with the idea that I could tie my sling around my Dragonborn's waist, and that his kobold friend would load it, and he could fire rocks from his loins, DM didn't like that idea.
