However, VPKs don't fragment and they load faster compared to GCFs
This is indeed a plus. But I would honestly say the minuses outweigh the pluses.

I've been watching some old l4d 1 gameplay on youtube. And it just is more streamlined, and overall better than l4d 2. It just looks smoother, darker (as in creepier), and the zombies also look better. Not to mention, you can see the character's feet.

the hud is also more streamlined, and I like just having boomer, smoker, hunter, tank. In the game. It just feels better. Shame more people don't play it.

Many of you may say, well all the original campaigns are in l4d 2, but it isn't the same. The zombies don't fit (l4d 2 zombies are used in the l4d 1 campaigns), and the new special infected don't work very well in some of the original maps.

    Edited:

I joined every server in campaign and versus, all 8 (yes, 8) were modded.

    oh well.

I don't mind any of the new infected, but yeah it was a lot nicer in L4D1.

Except for the Jockey. Fuck the Jockey.

I like how bright L4D2 is in comparison.

I'm sorry, but perpetual darkness is too cliche for me at this point.

See, that's the thing I didn't like. It takes away the (excruciatingly small) amount of creepiness that the game had.

Personally, I just want to know what happens to Coach, Nick, Rochelle and Ellis after that helicopter flew off. I feel like their story isn't done just yet and my curiosity is killing me.

The Helms Deep Reborn addon currently causes Red Bile jar syndrome (aka, I think something inside the vpk is turning the bile red and changing its texture, pretty much exactly like the Beta Boomer blood addon), would anyone be willing to find the cause of this problem so I can attempt to recompile the addon without the horrid texture change?

Helms Deep Reborn is a great map made by a pretentious douchebag.

IMO I've always thought the L4D2 intro pales in comparison to the original intro.
Way too much action with little explanation. I bet there are some files left over for when the intro was supposed to be long and immersive.
Maybe you should wait until the L4D2 intro comes out in SFM.
There's lots of unused character lines from Nick - if you look in their WAV folders you'll see all of the lines they made for the intro for him - also some ones that didn't make the cut in the intro.

Also guys, i see a lot of hate for the VPK system. I don't get what's wrong with it, please inform me? (besides it can't handle more than 2 GB of content)

Yeah, I like L4D more than L4D2 but nowadays we play only the latter because it has more features and all campaigns. L4D is definitely more polished game though. They added a lot of stuff in L4D2 but the quality suffered, some maps lack atmosphere and the animations... Oh, the animations.

It seems, as far as I can tell, that while it's more convenient and workable for Valve, its design really closes off modding potential and makes it very difficult to properly implement skins or such. Hopefully, if Valve follows through and makes all their Source games VPK-oriented, they'll create ways for modders to still be able to keep modding and all without a major barricade.

Man I just finished re-reading the whole comic series. Too many feels, makes me wish Valve would tell us what happens to the L4D2 survivors after The Parish.

The helicopter made it to a US Navy outpost safely, but as everyone stepped out of the helicopter, they slipped on wet ground and broke their necks.
