Orks can do shooting surprisingly well on the tabletop, mostly by sheer volume of fire. They do however lack AP2/3 weapons, so dealing with many Marines can be a problem.
I think I will get most of the chaos DLC's for Space Marine, as I really want to give the multiplayer another go.
Orks and img guard do the same shooty thing, you roll your shots, you roll your to wounds and then they save, you start with a bucket of dice and end up with like 2 wounds.
The lootas have unreal dakka though because 1d3 s7 ap3 shots a turn per model is insane.
Any tips for playing as Orks in Retribution? I mainly spam sluggas and shootas, getting a truck as fast as possible so that I can drive my melee units right into their ranged without anything dying. This works until they wise up and get anti armour units.
just worked out that i have a 1250 point tyranid army in pure models alone without any upgrades..
and I have yet to play a tabletop game...
attacked by those energy draining facehuggers. When presented with a few skill checks they can roll, instead they just decide to punch themselves in the face.
Lootas are nice though mostly because of the range and Strength values they lend, making them good against tougher enemies and even light vehicles, but the D3 shots each makes them finicky unless you take 10+ of them per-squad. Oh, and they're only AP 4.
Friend of mine used to know a Guard player who would roll to hit.
Roll to wound.
I mean, shoota boys are right and cool, but sluggas should still be the back-bone. Although trukk + shoota combo is a good troop slot, nothin' like trukkin' about supporting the doomed boyz.
IMHO, you don't roll with Guardsmen, unless they are vets (in which case, spam meltas in chimeras, you know the drill). You're in IG for vehicles, not infantry ,(lest you blob, but then you gotta be one rich fuck) which is more or less only needed for point caping.
Of course, there is always Marbo.
What campaigns in retribution are any good, as I said I did the space marine one is a single sitting.
What should I do next.
The Ork campaign is the best one, period.
The quest to become the pope
bought Dow 2 and all the expansions, Whenever I try to play Vanilla it opens chaos rising instead
I did the entire DoW2 campaign Co-Op with a friend, Was fun as hell.
Then we just decided to not do the chaos rising campaign because the entire karma thing was shit and the fact that we spent like 30+ hours on the original campaign and it's like "Well now we will just throw more enemies that do more damage at you"
Though retri filled in some blanks I am still not sure on something.
When Tarkus says that his friend went over to the chaos, who was he talking about? As far as i know he was saying the person was like diomedes so I guessed Force Commander but I'm most likely wrong.
Also, When The Ancient gets that ability to fire heavy weapons without a set-up/tear-down time, give him a plasma launcher and he rapes both big units and swarms.
Then when he get longer range, it's just so overpowered.
The OP is a little outdated, it still says that Space Marine still has yet to be released
After not having played any of the warhammer games I picked up the first and second one on a friends recommendation. I'm enjoying the first game and wondering what you guys think of the other games.
I always disliked how more mentions or comments from enemies and leaders during the campain should of been added depending on what race you were.
"Gaze directly into the wrap" - Chaos Marine talking to a Tyranid
Hello your talking to a fucking swarm like biological Necron race based off Aliens and Zerg rushing starship troopers
I feel like I'm cheating on Space Marine when I select both the Stalker-pattern bolter and meltagun in my loadout. Also, what chapter colours does everyone wear in Multiplayer? I took a disproportionately long time deciding.
Right now I'm Imperial Fists / World Eaters
Ultrasmurfes/ Emperor's Children here
Speaking of Space Marine, we should have an Exterminatus match sometime
(Or however the Last-Stand mode is called)
Because there's FOUR Dawn of War 1 games. There's THREE Dawn of War 2 games. Then there's spehssmehrine. There's also a SHIT TON of older games which could technically be "first or second"
Spacehulk, Final Liberation.
So my friend you've stumbled into a new thread, full of wonder, you have much to learn of the emprah.
So tell us what games you're playing because we don't fucking know. Fuck that I'll just list all the games I've played and my thoughts:
Dawn of War:
First impression: I LOVE THIS GAME I LOVE RELIC TAKE ALL MY MONEY.
Now impression: Good intro, the rest is a pile of shit, next.
First impression: I LOVE IMPERIAL GUARD TAKE ALL MY MONEY.
Now impression: Meh.
First impression: I LOVE RISK I LOVE 40k TAKE MY MONEY.
Now impression: This is Dawn of War, everything else is second to this.
First impression: Where's the 'nids?
Now impression: Confusing game map, but if you really need to play as deldar...
Dawn of War 2:
The first two games are basically just more of DoW vanilla and winter assualt, pretty pants stuffs. The rpg squad thing makes for interesting gameplay in an RTS. Feels more like infinity the game than 40k the game. Take that as you will.
Retribution is where you FINALLY GET TO PLAY SOMETHING OTHER THAN A SODDING SPEHSS MEHRINE and because of this it is so very good.
Spehssmehrine: Was a good game then they went DLC hungry. Not worth the price tag.
Spacehulk: Oh hell yes, hell fucking yes. Come on terminators we've got genestealers to purge. OH FUCK OH FUCK YOU'RE ALL GOING TO DIE.
2nd best tactics game of all time, x-com is 1st.
Final Liberation: This game is old but it is still the best, it's pretty much 40k but vidya'd. It's kind of hard to understand, and it's simplified. It's still fun though.
