Wait until you've finished all rooms before picking up any spirit hearts, then try to damage yourself down to half a heart, then pick them up, and after that you fight the boss.

With practice comes experience. With experience, you learn how to turn a shitty draw into a victory anyway.
I had to beat the entire game with only The Poop equipped because no replacements were ever available to me. You just gotta roll with the punches.

The game is basically a huge luck fest.
Sure, skill helps. But getting good items and such helps more in a game like this.

Eventually you can beat the game with shit items, and also learn techniques to increase your chances to get good items.

Meeting all those conditions implies getting a good run, which I just can't do.

My best Eve runs I simply play as if I were any other character.
I grab every chance to get more hearts and spirit hearts so it becomes very easy to make deals with the devil. At the first opportunity I get, I use a blood donation machine to get myself down to half a heart and then I sweep the rest of the game with Whore of Babylon active, a lot of extra money (which I can use to buy more upgrades), plus I have a few deals with the devil under my belt so I not only get those buffs, but I get an increased chance of encountering Krampus for even more damage upgrades.
I don't use the Razor Blade or Kamikaze that much unless I'm banking on using the Guppy exploit. And that's only if I have 0 spirit hearts, I don't want to waste them. As per usual, spirit hearts are the last thing I collect on a floor just in case I encounter a Guppy pickup and I have sufficient items to commit suicide 8 times from my current max health. Of course, unless I have a Fool, Stars, or Hermit tarot card, I will always pick everything I can up before I fight Mom in Depths 2 and Satan in Sheol (as I cannot backtrack in the former and backtracking in the latter is pointless). Telepills are another story, but I still pick all the spirit hearts up just in case I instead get sent to the I am error room.

It's possible to beat the game with no items. Skills helps more.

What if God told Mom to kill Isaac so Isaac will have to run away, becoming stronger as he goes further down, until he eventually gets to Sheol and kills Satan?

First ??? Run -> Bag of Coins, Relic, Battery, and Book of Revelations by Caves 1, get Brimstone in devil room Caves 2... Beat everything including Satan :) (First run with the option of fighting satan, too)

A main skill in the game is controlling what items you get. It's hardly about luck at all after a certain point.

Is Mom's Knife a treasure room item?
I've been playing this a lot lately and I have yet to find it once.
And yes I unlocked it.

It can appear in the treasure room, shop, beggar, devil room, and a reward for fighting the Fallen. I am unsure if it can appear in the Error room, and if it can appear as a boss fight (other than Fallen) reward is unknown since it's never happened.

It does "support" Steam Cloud, it just doesn't work.
Thankfully, you can transfer your save file. The directory is in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\the binding of issac
in the files MyFile.txt and Serial.txt.

Ah, I remember reading that article. My brother did some research into those, and claims they are blasphemous (heh), but I didn't read what he read, so I can't say for sure. Also, solid_jake, these are not nearly as many as there have been in the Bible, there have been many more given power directly from God.

If you have Inner Eye and Loki's Horns, do the extra shots come out in 3? This could be the skeleton to a very powerful build.

If I'm not mistaken, it ensures that the 4-way shot happens 100% of the time. I haven't bumped into that combo in months, so my memory is probably off.
