Am I the only one who found the watch Jessi gave Walt suspicious? I felt like it was a trick..or something in it is tracking him. I have no clue why, but the way it was presented gave off that vibe.

It will come into play later but Jesse isn't going to betray Walt so quickly. I found that scene off-setting because A: foreshadowing and B: out of everyone Jesse is the only one who cares about Walt and knows him fully anymore. The same man who previously wanted to kill him.

        More foreshadowing,

"The Watch that Jesse gives Walt is the Tag Heuer Monaco, a watch forever linked to and made famous by Steve McQueen in the movie Le Mans.

Steve McQueen... died of a rare, inoperable lung cancer."

That's how Gilligan writes his show, there is a lot of foreshadowing going on
A lot of people even think Skylar wrapping the floss tight around her finger is foreshadowing her hanging herself.

I only found out about the watch thing from a Reddit discussion and posted it here because it was relevant to his post and I thought people might find it interesting.
I doubt anyone is watching every episode in slow motion on a loop trying to find every detail.

I only noticed the Scarface foreshadowing because I've seen it a bunch of times.

leaked script of episode 5, spoilers inside.
       INT PEST-INFESTED HOUSE

Walter is sitting alone at a wood table. It is night time and the only illumination is the lamp at the top of the tent inside of the sprayed house. He sits for a few minutes, fidgets a couple of times, and checks his new watch. He laces his fingers together and leans onto the table, clearing his throat. Just then, president BARAK OBAMA enters through the tent flap. "Sorry if I kept you waiting," Obama says, straightening his suit and not looking at Walt. "Traffic." "No, no, it's... it's fine." Walter puts on a quick, fake smile and straightens up in his chair. "So how much are you going to need this time?" Obama whips out his blackberry and then distractedly puts it away again. He sighs, massages his face briefly, and says, "Well, Mr. White, buying an election isn't as cheap as it used to be. So let me be frank. I need 500 kilos by next month. Call it... an October surprise." Obama leans back in his chair, lights up a cigarette, and starts smoking it.
Walter is silent and still for a beat, then shifts his position a bit. "You know, Mr. President... now, maybe this seems crazy. But if it were me, well... why don't I make one thing clear. I know things may seem different on Capitol Hill, but you know where you are? (Obama is silent.) You're in New Mexico, you're--you're on my turf. Mine. You're not calling the shots out here." Walter leans forward, plucks Obama's cigarette out of his mouth. "I am. 400 is the best I can do, take it or leave it." Obama sighs and leans forward again. "Very well. 400 kilos. But if Mitt wins, don't come crying to me." The president stands up and leaves the tent. He is somehow not wearing a breath mask of any kind outside of the tent.
Alone again, Walter places his hands flat on the table, looks left and right, and smiles and nods slightly to himself. Then he bends under the table, and pulls out a notebook from a briefcase, leafs through it, then sets it on the table as he gets up and leaves. As he walks away, the camera switches to a static shot to reveal a sticker on the cover, reading: "RON PAUL 2012"

    BREAKING BAD

Yes, they also like to fuck with the viewer by making them think things are going to happen then going another direction with it, so who knows. They're probably making a bunch of connections that aren't there just to make things seem chaotic and almost unpredictable while you still get the sense something bad is definitely going to happen.

You know where I think it would work well? If AMC used it right before a season premiere. (Or at the end of the series finale.)

    To help secure his family.
Come on. I think we all know at this point Walt's just using that as his justification to keep cooking.

Maybe Walt actually believes that's what he's still doing, to a degree anyways, but if Walt really wanted what's best for his family he would have stopped cooking a long time ago or at the very least he would have stopped after    Gus died.

does anyone else think the opening title sequence really doesn't fit the show anymore?
I think when there's music in the opening it makes for an awkward transition. Last episode went from upbeat dubstep to the unsettling intro music

    walter cooks methamphetamine.

    he's also a serial killer.

    and a sociopath.

but skylar TOTALLY FUCKED UP when she had that affair, stupid bitchy whore!!!
I think that analysis is a bit simplistic and far.

Traditionally a serial killer is somebody who kills lots of people for the enjoyment. Walt has not killed a single person yet out of some strange need for gratification - everybody who has died by his hand has been a direct threat to his own life, or to the lives of people he cares about.

Sociopaths don't give a shit about people. They're unable to give a shit about people. Walt may be a manipulative cunt, but as mentioned above he's killed for people he cares about - he cares about his kids, for example, and arguably Jesse.

I can't really deny that he cooks meth or anything, though.

yeah her "fuckup" which was basically the only logical course of action to prevent the IRS from finding out their car wash launders fucking meth money.

i'm convinced some of you take power naps during this show or some shit

what about Walt's fuck up in season 1 where he didn't accept a very nice job offer which would cover his cancer treatment and take care of his family after he dies

I agree with that but its not why I can't stand her.
I don't like her in the Season 5 (I was totally ok with her before) because she's constantly in the Walt's way, causing all sorts of problems, and what's even worse is that it took her 4 episodes to stop acting like a lunatic and open her mouth to say something.

If she just said to Walt "I don't want you to move back in, because of X." instead of metaphorically sulking in a corner, cutting her wrists, then I wouldn't have any reason to dislike her, even if Walt said "No, I want to move in and there's nothing you can do about it.".

That way there's would be a reason for me to like Walt less and dislike Skyler less.

Also, although Skylar is kind of annoying, basically because tension makes me uncomfortable, and I would gladly watch Walt and Jesse being friends and cooking meth for hours on end, she is completely justified. At the moment Walt is a complete psycho. He would scare me too.

No not really, a sociopath can care about something or someone that is of use to them. Emotional attachment or empathy is not needed for a sociopath to want to defend or protect something. So yeah, calling Walt a socipath or sociopathic isn't far-fetched.

You mean to not to dislike her?
Because I can't stand her even more now than I did before.
Are you serious? If anything her obstructiveness towards Walt is even more justified than ever before.
