A majority of animation uses exaggeration in order to make things stand out more than they do in the real world. Even if they aren't anatomically possible or realistic -- there's still a clear divide between animation and reality.
TF2 characters (sans Spy) all have humungous hands. Dexter's mom has hips that aren't humanly realistic. And so on.

I for one like plump women. It has nothing to do with the fact it's a FemPyro, I just like round thighs, wide hips and well-distributed fat in general. And I've seen real girls with that kind of body shape, and quite gorgeous, it's not something that unrealistic.

All forms of animation and illustration exaggerate features to make them stand out. Characters have certain facial features or anatomical parts exaggerated in order to personify the character's personality more just by being able to look at their appearance (a character with beady eyes and small facial features is usually timid, for example), or they may have exaggerated movements in order to emphasize what they are doing or just to make it interesting to look at.
Proportions being exaggerated like the ones that started this discussion are still within those bounds of feasible illustration exaggeration. Come back when proportions are so out of whack that it becomes difficult to identify if the character's skeleton looks remotely like a human's.

I've never claimed it does, my posting style hasn't changed at all over the years. If anything I've mellowed out. I don't think I'm egotistical, what makes you think I am? Why would I care what that guy thinks, for example?
