Yeah, I bet he made the cage really huge so it would fit over a specific part, and it made the rest of it look odd.

pretty sure it's an MP41, a mashup of the MP40 and a stock and trigger system similar to the MP28

I'm curious - there used a rock modelling tutorial in one of the earlier threads. Not sure anymore who posted it though? Vestin? Livewire. Honestly not sure.

Does anyone have a link to it?

Why every thing made by Asari have to remind of sexual organs?
my guess on bioware's behalf - male dominated societies - phalic symbols for spaceships

female dominated society - yonic symbology for spacecraft

or just import one of the already-decompiled models in your /steamapps/account name/sourcesdk_content folder

Or you can get a 3D printer and print out a model of a HL2 citizen, use a ruler to measure him, then print out your model and compare sizes. If the scale is not correct, adjust the size of your model and then reprint it to make sure.

Well, source uses inches as units.
A player model is 72inches tall.

    Is this still a WIP?

Here's a few things that could be improved:
    - The blank windows make it look boring
    - The smoke is also painted on part of the frame
    - Why is the digital sign/display on the front broken, while the rest of the bus is in a pretty good condition?

Also some of the edges could be sharper, looks like some plastic toy :P

Yeah, I dunno what buses are like in Britain, but down here the windows are fucked and scratched and tagged on, especially near the back.

I could make all the changes and everything to the back, but I have to stick to what the client requested, this was made to go in to source so the reason the windows are slightly bland is because they were replaced in the end anyway.

    Edited:

Also some of the edges could be sharper, looks like some plastic toy :P
I've been told that my edges are too sharp in past models, I loosened them up abit for this model and now people think they're not sharp enough.

    :(

Learning more modelling stuff and currently focusing on making source physics/breakable props

Not sure if I'm going to finish these as many were tests with half-assed textures, but at least I learned a lot of stuff regarding .qc stuff, AO+normalmap and a little better understanding of phong/spec.

Also custom particles on models is always fun.

What did you use for the bumps on the McFlurry? I think it's a McFlurry, I've never bought an icecream beverage from McDonald's before.

I used a subdivided hemisphere and used the paint/push/pull to sculpt the main icecream. Then I made a separate model for the M&Ms and scattered it all over the surface. I then made a lowpoly dome and rendered an AO and a normal map, and hand painted the colour and phong mask:

In retrospect I should have had the shadows as a different colour than black and I should have given the scattered M&Ms colour so I didnt have to hand paint it on. But all in all a good learning experience.

Also some other normal+AO map bake tests, both of these were done with floating geometry:
