Season 3: March 31, 2013

Summary:

Game of Thrones is an HBO series. It is an adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire, a series of epic fantasy novels written by American author George R.R. Martin. Each season will, for the most part, cover one book.

The television series is expected to follow the multiple storylines of the A Song of Ice and Fire series of novels closely, and author Martin has stated that the pilot script was very faithful to his work. Set in Westeros where "summers span decades and winters can last a lifetime," Game of Thrones chronicles the violent dynastic struggles among noble families for control of the Iron Throne.

If I understand correctly, that's only for the more popular threads. The previous one moved pretty slow until the season actually started. I don't think we'll need to worry about that just yet.

God blasted and damned, I'm really looking forward to the second series. I've read the book and there's so many things that I would love to see on screen rather than solely in my mind.

Not quite sure if he didn't understand how the game worked. If he did he wouldn't want to participate because of honourable reasons. The only way Mr. Martin could have made Ned cooler was if he made him less honourable. That would, I'll give you that, even more badass.

I don't see how people think Ned is a badass. What did he do that was badass? He killed Arthur Dayne, sure, but that was with help from Howland Reed. I can't think of a single thing he did that was really cool.

Lord of the North, which is the most badass part of the land.
He fought many a battle, and won many, with Robert.
He's quite the good swordsman, Selmy said so and we all know how good he is.

Besides that it's all a matter of opinion, I get that.

It's still a matter of opinion. I get that you don't like him and me trying to make you think otherwise is silly. The same way I do not really find Stannis or Davos anything special.

Didn't say I didn't like Ned, I think he was a great guy, I'm just saying he wasn't a badass. And his honour thing was stupid, especially in Westeros.

I'll give you that.    If Martin hadn't make him value honour above all he would have lived past the first book.

That was the point of him, to show what happens to honourable people in that universe. To show that all characters are shades of grey, not good/evil.

Well, I got that much. In time I just assumed he died. Then again, there was quite some time before I started with ASOS after I finished ACOK. That, and he hasn't appeared in ASOS yet.

   I find it pretty cool that boromir died, that makes show have more suprises and everyother tvshow has mainhero that never dies.

Season 1 spoiler:    Eddard Stark is by no means the mainhero. Sean Bean just played the role so incredibly good that people think that he is the mainplayer, which is incorrect.

Who is the mainhero then? I guess there are couple of those and I'd say they are
dragon lady, dwarf and the guy who joined team black at wall.

This is, indeed, the case. In the books the chapters are named after the people who'll provide the point of view for that part of the book. People like Tyrion, Bran, Catelyn, Sansa, Jon, Daenerys, Eddard, etc.

If someone had to choose the main character for some reason though it's probably Jon out of all the books.

I wouldn't think so seeing ADWD, where Dany gets more attention than Jon. The ending to ADWD leaves me very interested, though.

I'm just finishing up AFFC so I've not read ADWD yet but yeh, I'd say Jon & Dany are the most important characters to the story.

I think their stories will be intertwined BOOK SPOILERS     with him being half-targ and all, if the R+J thing is true, which is probably is
