If you could use the giant screen, go for the Titan. Otherwise, Lumia 900.

I'd choose the Titan if you usually have issues typing on touchscreens, large screen=bigass keyboard...

But the Lumia 900 is overall the best Windows Phone out there right now.

Well the 800 is only a 3,7 but so far the best Ts keyboard I've used. Had issues with four inch droids. Though the iPhone is fairly good as well. But I do have fairly small hands compared to most of you I gather.

Is the "Microsoft Evangelist" a reliable source? If so, I'd trust his opinion over some anonymous source that the Verge have grabbed out of nowhere.

If pre-Windows 8 phones don't upgrade to Windows phone 8 when it's released, I might put off getting one and stick with my brick for a little bit longer.
If you could stick it out with your current phone for another 6 or 8 months, I would, regardless of what is the case.

the lumia 900 has a 4.2 inch screen I think, and you'll find the WP keyboard A LOT more pleasant to use than any android keyboard. The responsiveness is amazaing and the autocorrect system is a lot better. It has suggestions on the top of the keyboard that come really really handy.

    Edited:

Also, that Microsoft Evangelist guy has retracted, said he was confused about what he was asked about. So it looks like there won't be an update, at least for us with 1st gen devices. It'd be suicide if MS didn't update 2nd gen phones to apollo, and tests of windows phone 8 have been detected on the lumia 610 and the 800.

If tests are being run on the 610 even first gen's ought to get the upgrade. Considering the 610 will probably have lower specs (ram in the minimum) than some first gens.

I bought my focus flash from America and it works on the Optus network. Just make sure you keep in mind the usual stuff with the carrier locks and what not.

Note that the tests have only been detected on Nokia devices, maybe nokia added some different hardware stuff that makes them able to update to Windows phone 8, perhaps?

It should work, but I'd wait for the european version to come (or the unlocked version). It's just a matter of checking if the device supports the band your carrier uses.

There's rumours flying both ways. Right now the current rumours are, that microsoft and nokia are testing wp8 on a number of lumia devices (including the 800) but until they have a seamless upgrade option, nothing will be announced.

Well the thing is, apollo has been seen running on the l610 which is weaker than a lot of gen1 phones. Which strongly implies that MS will push out the update even to early adopters.

Current expectations are rumoured that 3dc might have the reveal since there's enough time to make a hype buildup.

I'm pretty certain it will. Not updating a device after less than a year would be complete and utter suicide for Microsoft. It would be Windows Mobile all over again.

I really don't see how. An RGBG subpixel matrix has no more visible patterning on the 3.7" HTC Desire screen than an RGB one. So I fail to see how it would make a difference on the 3.7" Lumia 800.

I usually just mashed the back button until I was at the start screen. I never noticed it only actually took two times.

I'm just wondering because I'm confused but is a front camera really needed, I am seeing this as a major downer to the Lumia 800 even though everything else is so good about it.

Should I honestly be that concerned?

(I would only use it for skype anyway - if that exist on wp7)

If you use Skype, yes. it is a downer. otherwise the smaller screen would be a deal breaker for me.

I don't actually know a single person that uses videocalls even on PC's let alone mobile phones.

And yes, there's a skype app now. Hit 1.0 recently.

It makes you store the emails on an account.

I actually like that feature, I set up a windows account for the phone and when I inevitably upgrade I can just pull all my contacts off of Outlook
