Honestly, you might want to have a look at some of the other mods on the site. The Great War Mod is pretty bland ATM. Version 5.0 with its shitton of content will propel it leagues ahead of where it is right now.
is it possible to play as all the other countries in napoleon by editing any of the files?
also are there any good mods i should know about?
You can pick minor countries using Darthmod, but they don't really have the good units for example France and England has.
Sure they might get hurt by it, but they certainly won't be killed by it. AI is known to cheat itself money when it needs it.
Is there any way to make the camera controls in MTW2 like the controls in Empire?
it's so unwieldy
Is there any fix for the slow turns in ETW? I've already ticked the 'show AI moves' box off.
It's like 4 minutes from the first turn. I'm running it on a dual core, by the way.
Hold space bar?
Once you play a bit the factions will get thinned out. Usually only takes 10-20 seconds for my turns to pass.
playing as Russia. me, Prussia and Austria were all like bro's. we would help eachother when we were invaded. and I would always help them retake captured territory
But then Prussia HAD to invade Austria. Fuck...
Would updating my Win 7 to 64 bit stop my freezing Shogun 2?
Their capital is a small town on a tiny island with only one port, they don't have any special units, they don't get any ships bigger than a 3rd rate, and Britain hates them from the start, but they're worth playing for the bitchin' uniforms and faction flags.
Plus I just like playing as non-mainstream factions that I know nothing about. It makes creating an empire with them more interesting. When I play as France, it's "France took over the world," but when I play as minor faction so-and-so, it's more "I took over the world."
"United Provinces? Sellouts."
Also, I uninstalled Medieval 2: Kingdoms a couple weeks ago to save space and because none of the campaigns were too interesting, and today when I started up Medieval 2 it told me the files were corrupt. I figured it was a mod problem, forgetting I never got any mods for Medieval 2, so I verified the integrity of the game files, expecting 10 or so files and about 50 Mb to download.
711 files, 6 Gb. What the fuck are you doing, Total War?
The battles run alright, but the campaign map is terrible. It's kind of silly because I can run shogun 2's campaign map really smoothly.
I have a bad habit of biting off more than I can chew, though. Like when I was playing as the Italian States earlier today and set out to unify the country. I went to war with Genoa and Venice and won without much trouble. But when I went to war with Spain in order to take Naples (and, consequently, the entire southern half of Italy- including Sicily) I got raped. Badly. And so did France, my ally.
If you manage to conquer France's one province in Europe (Paris) though you're pretty much set for the rest of the game to enslave the world. In 1700, they have a population of like 24.5 million people, lots of ports and industries, not to mention colleges. You have all the manpower and facilities needed to raise both a very large and sophisticated army and navy, plenty of industries that generate stuff you can trade to bring in loads of money, and can research a wide variety of technologies.
I started as United Provinces in NTW with 1 province and after a couple turns i was already at war with half the world. After a while i was fighting England, some minor states and Prussia at the same time, while Russia and Sweden were also at war with me but didn't bother me as much.
But i ended up having no friendly nations, no allies and most of Europe was at war with me. I think i was only cool with Spain, Portugal, Papal states and Ottoman Empire.
While i agree it's overwhelming to start with many provinces, it just sucks not having all the cool units. Diversity in your army is really nice imo. The stats of those special troops are slightly better while they also have cool looking uniforms. I love comitting the guard when i am winning a battle
Fucking feel so awesome
Getting 23840 each turn and having no trouble with other factions, they all want to have an alliance with me
I love playing as Russia.
If there was a mod for Medieval 2 based on the Skyrim civil war, do you think that a system where each hold is its own faction and the Imperials and Stormcloaks start in Solitude and Windhelm respectively. Then, the Imperials and Stormcloaks can either find some way to diplomatically ally the different holds, or take them by force. If the previous were true, then the holds would join your faction (imperials/stormcloaks) when allied. I suppose there might also be small parcels of land in between the main holds that are maybe the beast races, orcs, and elves enclaves? Potentially you could just recruit them as mercs though.
Anyway, if you guys could post some feedback on the idea of the hold systems that'd be great. Thanks
Any good mods for RTW, my first total war game. It's addicting.
Wow, I took half of India with three land stacks and ~30 ships. The Russians descended upon the Mughal from the north and crushed their main land army. Then I swept aside some flintlock armies and took India. Really easy when you earn 60,000 gold per turn.
Anyone got some good mods for Medieval 2? Dont give me any of that fantasy shit with other races, I just want some legit Medieval 2 with some fixes and whatnot. I tried installing Broken Steel but I either did something wrong, or the instructions are terribly written. Same with the the M2TW Darthmod.
So apparently declaring war on a Country that everyone hates in Empire turns everyone against you.
So I was playing as Russia with pretty much everyone as allies, Maratha Confederacy decides to take over all of India and expands into Persia and near Dagestan. I was Dagestan's only ally. but since I have been trying to Grow my armies I needed to expand too. So when the Maratha's decided to declare war on Persia, Mamalukes and Dagestan. (seeing as Maratha's were good friends with the rest of the countries in the world) I decided to expand my territory by Taking over Dagestan
After about 2 hours of Siege battles and Land battles. I finally take over Dagestan. but somehow EVERY country in the world are hostile to me.
Hey does anyone know if the de-syncing issues on multiplayer Campaign for Shogun 2 have been fixed? I haven't played in a while and I wanted to recommend to a buddy of mine to pick it up so we can play campaign together.
edit: it may be one of the 'fixes' coming with FotS update, but don't get your hopes up.
-install ss6.4 to your /mods/ folder
-run ss_setup.exe in the ss6.4 folder and configure the settings to your liking
-rename one of the kingdoms campaigns in the /mods/ folder, for example rename 'crusades' to 'crusades_backup'
-rename the ss6.4 folder to the campaign you just renamed, for example rename it to 'crusades'
-launch kingdoms from steam, selecting the crusades campaign when it prompts you
that should work, but if it doesn't, give this a try.
I fancy the RTW faction banners in battles more than any other Total War game.
Imo the Napoleon model for battle unit flag things is the best.
I'm playing as the greeks in R:TW and I'm getting attacked on both sides by the Scipii and brutii, it's so fun watching a roman legion getting decimated by phalanxes.
Decided to give ETW a go after having to uninstall NTW but dang so little diversity. Gunfire seems more lethal though.
I am convinced NTW is much better , although pikes are fun to mess around with.
