You're going to run into a lot of bullshit with every branch. The Air Force takes really good care of its people though.
This man speaks the truth. Bullshit all around, however Air Force is going to have the better treatment (better quality food, better dorms, that kind of stuff).

    Edited:

Thinking about trying to join the military again, which branch has the least amount of bullshit?
I responded to your post in this one, however if you have any questions about the Air Force I can answer them to the best of my ability. Also, if you'd like PM me your interests and I can try to see if there's a job that would fit you. I by no means am a recruiter however I may as well be one for Facepunch. I won't feed you bullshit though.

The Army has a fair share of BS that happens. It usually only happens when you are doing the wrong thing, so if you are in the right place at the right time in the right uniform, as well as performing your job well during the day then you will be fine.

An easy fix to poor running ability is to get out and run regularly. That, and I don't think that using the USAF as an excuse to stay in your current condition is valid.

I wouldn't recommend running everyday. Although running is healthy excercise it's gonna take awhile to help him with his PRT run. The best thing to do to prepare for a PRT (idk what the AF calls it) is to run sprints. It works your heart and your cardio out more than just plain running. With running you get to a point where your heart rate stays at the same pace. With sprints it pushes your body beyond that.

    Solution:
    Go Jogging some days.
    Do Wind sprints other days.
or go jogging then kill yourself with sprints

So i've been in the Army coming up on two years at the end of this month. Going on 5 months in this shithole afghanistan. Lets see uh, I enlisted as 11x option 4 wanting to be an 11B and got told day 1 of basic that i was going to be an 11C but fuck it right. Got stationed up in Alaska with the 501st.

I got fucked and stuck on rto because i'm a mortar and all mortars get fucked all the fucking time. I suck the big green weenie on a daily baises because i'm a mortar. So i sit here and guard the radio and try to use the internet and all 12 pages that arnt filtered. So I figured with all this time I have on my hands sitting here I could answer some question some of you might have about the Army or this shithole country.

Dude. USAF PT test is really tough because it's really strict. You better work out now. I am warning you. YOU DON'T WANT TO END UP IN FIT FLIGHT IN BASIC.

When I was in basic, there were 3 former Air force sergeants who were transferring to the Army. They all said basic training was a lot harder when they joined the Air force, and that they ran a lot more, and it was true that we didn't run all that much. Then again I was at Fort Jackson

    Edited:

also 30:60's and 60:120's were really beneficial to my running

I would like to know their definition of running. When I went through aircrew school It wasn't uncommon to run 8 miles in a single session, with half of it being on the beach.

Most I ran was probably 4, maybe 5 miles. I was in B group, I think A group sometimes did 7ish miles. We only ran twice a week though

And we ran on the street

I want to eventually enlist as 11x and move to 11B, and was a little worried I might be put somewhere else like 11C or something. Does that happen a lot?

You need to start working out now. Why? If you like the Air Force, or even your health in general you need to be able to run. USAF is making itself smaller. Guess who goes first!.. PT failures are on that list of people going.. and it's not a good way to go. You will fuck your career or enlistment over, have your re-enlistment denied, paperwork issued, and multiple ass chewings from everyone in your chain of command including your commander.

USAF is NOT an excuse out of being fit, and in fact most of the desk jobs do PT 3 times a week and you test every 6 months. This is still the military, you need to be in DECENT shape. 8 minute mile (= 12 minute mile and a half) along with 40+ pushups and 50+ situps will be fine for the standards if I remember right, and that's not TOO hard with a little bit of work.

In the Air Force? BMT is shuffle 30 minutes with people yelling so you're jogging for a while.. not hard but a bit rough in BMT environment. Tech school is 2 mile shuffles since everyone goes as slow as possible. This is for general USAF jobs and nothing special. It is quite sad.

Well i would think not. I asked my recruiter what 11c was and he was like, it's a mortarman don't worry you'll never be that. I guess if you have my luck you'll be a mortar. but I love my job man, i get to wake everyone the fuck up on the cop, blow the fuck out of shit, not go on every goddamn patrol.

I wouldn't worry about it though dude, they're both infantry jobs and if you enlist 11x you'll find out if you're 11b or 11c when you get to 30th AG or day one of basic. I don't know an exact 11c to 11b percentile or anything but there is a shitton less chucks than there are bangbangs so your odds are with you man.

Well you can't wear cammies in public, and you just look retarded wearing your uniform outside of work. Go to an airport and you'll see tons of army and a few airforce/navy guys in uniform. The only marines you'll see are boots. We take pride in NOT going in public in uniform. We work for pride, not for praise.

That's pretty much the gist of it for grunts. Some POGs are a bit like that too, such as motor T and Amtracks. Airwingers spend most of their time on a flight base.
