Because thinking about that makes his little brain hurt
Haha. You should be on Comedy Central!
So... does that mean you are going to think about it... or just be sarcastic to hide the fact that you don't actually have an argument?
You're getting a little over defensive here, it may not be a choice but you don't have to be so self detrimental about it, and it may just be my location, but I am never treated as a lesser being, and as for the rights, marriage never interested me.
I think people hate gays because they can't relate.
As a man it's hard to believe another man can't be sexually interested in women, but at the same time I don't know why I'm sexually interested in women, I have no control over it. The same goes for them. Gays are attracted to the same sex because its how they are.
As long as I don't have some gay guy trying to hit on me, I don't care who is gay and who isn't. And gays are usually careful about who they hit on so again it doesn't matter if someone is gay.
Don't worry about it.. -.-
Why does it matter if it's a choice or not? I mean jeez. Let people be gay.
Yes exactly! What difference does it make? This whole discussion belongs in a science/biology thread.
That's like saying that dogs aren't born dogs, they are born as cats and as they grow up they become dogs. That is how stupid your argument is.
Ho Moe SEX! Nope its still not right.
Being gay is inherently unintentional and bad. It goes all against of what nature intended, and the thing about gay genes is all quackery. I mean really, your asshole is for exiting, not entering. I don't know how the hell that isn't obvious. If you're gay, then there is seriously something wrong with you because it should be obvious that opposites attract and it works the same way with humans

Well you heard the man, folks! Never have anal sex with women, never masturbate, and always make sure you never use a condom. Because it's not natural!
What pisses me off is how often people refer to things as 'gay'.
Sorry to jump in at a odd place in the conversation, but on behalf of Christians who actually do know the Bible and accept it's teachings, I'm sorry how much the Christian worldview has been distorted into being wholly anti-gay, when it should be wholly loving and wholly accepting. Yeah.
Best get off that computer, since 'nature didn't intend' for it to exist.
It's like the FP-specific version of Godwin's law: The longer a discussion on facepunch continues, the probability of it turning into a argument about whether homosexuality a choice or not, approaches 1.
It's obviously pretty inevitable in a thread on the subject of homosexuality, but it happens in threads about completely unrelated things as well.
Various passage in the Bible can be interpreted in different ways, but you'd be really hard-pressed to make the case that the Bible as a text is not anti-gay. Whether or not you as a Christian decide to ignore Leviticus or other passages decrying 'sexual deviancy' is not relevant to determining if the Bible itself is anti-gay or pro-gay.
Inherently unintentional? Sure.
But how it is bad? In what way does it go against all of what nature intended. (Homosexuality is natural and occurs in a number of species. Read "Biological Exuberance: Animal Homosexuality and Natural Diversity" by the Canadian biologist Bruce Bagemihl.)
You fail to point out in what way gay genes are quackery. Theoretically it could be a recessive gene, right?
"Your asshole is for exiting, not entering." Yes. But when you don't have a vagina, you have to resort to the second best, right? There are also different forms of sex, such as fellatio.
As for opposites attract. Again, you provide no argument for me to respond to, really.
If only human sexuality were as simple as fridge magnets, eh?
I don't really mind gays, but I wouldn't be able to not be slightly uncomfortable around, say a group of them
Do you know why you feel this way? Because I can't relate.
Gays tend to actually be more respective of people's boundaries than heterosexuals from my experience. So I don't see why you're worried.
If the first part of that is true, then you'll get over the second part eventually.
Here's something to think about.
You're in a room with, say 10 other random people. You're all getting on ok for several minutes, then a chance remark leads to all the other people revealing that they are gay.
What is your reaction?
I'll treat gays like humans when people start treating paedophiles like humans.
how is it your business to go around telling people to stop fucking in the hallways????
In that scenario, I'd have gotten to know 'em a bit so wouldn't really be that bothered. I sat for 20 minutes trying to write this, but can't put my thoughts into words.
Let the gays be gay. They dont cause any problems in society unlike some other groups in society so i dont see why their behaviour is so frowned upon.
It's good that it makes you think about the way you think. That's the only reason I wrote the scenario.
I expect the only problem you have, is that because you don't know many (or any?) gay people, you're subconsciously hanging onto stereotypes. I expect you wouldn't really have a problem with a group of homosexuals in real life.
That's just a guess though, I'm not a psychiatrist.
I'm okay with women as long as the unattractive ones don't hit on me. Know what I mean guys?
im more annoyed by girls than guys most of the time
please straight people keep all of the annoying wenches to yourselves thanks
Well that's easy seeing that they're both humans. Dunno how many times I have to go over the fact that you can be a pedophile and not molest kids, and that believing all pedophiles do so is incredibly hateful.
Yeah they're clearly in like a fuckin Sears or something. I don't think he's rapin him, just saiyan.
There is,scientific researches and mental health institutions have both disproved that homosexuality is a choice and proved that homosexuality(at least in men) is genetic.
No it hasn't, they've proved that some genetic factors can influence a persons sexuality, but I'm fairly sure the idea of a gay gene was disproven. I think it's far more likely that sexuality is a sub conscious matter.
I've thought about it and I still hold my argument. People are saying "I didn't have a choice". If this is the case, then you adopted the belief SOMEWHERE down the line. This doesn't absolutely mean that gays adopted the belief somewhere in their childhood. It could simply be due to personal issues in a strait relationship. It's the same thing with religion. When you're taught that God is the answer to everything and Jesus died for our sins and all that, you would have the tendency to believe that for a good portion of your life. As for the thing with South Africa, I would think my argument still applies. Sure, the population is anti-gay. But is that stopping the families that were gay before everybody became anti-gay? Now, I could be making a blind assumption that South Africa has only been anti-gay for a few generations as I am uninformed of the subject. If this is the case, I'm sorry.
It's either this or the biological/scientific explanation. I'm open to either one.
Before I answer to this, I must ask, are you being genuine right now? For real?
I don't see any reason why it's bad that you inherently feel uncomfortable around a group of gay people.
I'm gay, and I'll be honest - I feel uncomfortable around a group of people that I have no grounds to relate to, or that I see as being slightly awkward to be around. Such as a bunch of gangster-loving kids at school, or a group of people at uni who literally sit around and loudly play games with their alienware laptops in the lounge all day vs. going to or studying for classes.
It has everything to do with giving you the feeling that you don't belong in an enviornment or social group, and not much to do with the fact that they are gay. That's where the awkard feeling comes from. It's just the social steriotype that gays have that makes it seem like you are feeling that way twoards a group of gay guys only because they are gay.
Edited:
From my personal bias, I can almost garuntee sexuality is determined partly from genetic factors, partly from enviornment, and partly from how your brain is wired from a personality type standpoint. I'm a fairly straight guy when it comes to how I act and a lot of my interest, but I've got quirks to my personality, interest, and thinking patterns that are more homosexual oriented, and I have no interest in women sexually.
There are tons of people out there who grow up with totally different personality types and enviornments yet are gay too. It really depends on how your brain ends up wiring itself when you grow up, and if your personality type or personality quirks are receptive to homosexual tendencies or not.
I like to think of us as nature's way of balancing out the populationI like the idea that I won't be contributing to a higher population on a crowded earth. Some animals actually have that capability you know - wolves are known to produce litters of only one or two pups in years where there is scarce food due to overpopulation.
I forsee in the future, when attitudes towards homosexuality have lightened up (i.e. gay marriage is legal in all states, adoption not frowned upon, etc.), that there'll be some new debate on whether gays/lesbians should be allowed to produce children. Of course, this will be in an era when technology permits this. Discuss.
Technology already permits lesbians to get pregnant.
Men can also use a surrogate mother who is impregnated with semen to eventually give birth to a child for the couple.
