Alrighty, here we go again on another attempted meetup.
    The twist this time?

It'll be at a Lion Claws Event in Scranton Pennsylvania.

This automatically limits the event to 18+ (sorry 80% of you).

Details can be found here: http://www.oplionclaws.com/phpBB/viewforum.php?f=159
General Lion Claws rules are here: http://www.oplionclaws.com/phpBB/vie...p?f=112&t=4300
    April 27th -29th

    Basically, the deal is this:

Russia versus America in an entirely indoor location, an abandoned lace factory.
300 players max, most likely 366fps with .25g limits, and they are strict here, no 367.

Our potential squad is going to be Russian, to fit obvious IFAP standards, and because American is strictly multicam.

Be aware that you'll probably have to buy a fair amount of shit to come along, read the current uniform requirements. If we can all be wearing the same type of camo and rigs, we'll look boss as shit, as well as making it easier to spot one another.
If we decide on a squad dress code, it will be posted here. You guys are free to brainstorm what you want to wear.

Most importantly, make sure your weapons are going for the best possible, use an AR pattern rifle if you need to, just make sure it'll work hella well all day forever. I'll be rolling shotguns and pistols with an AEG or two in reserve.

I'll most likely be squad leader since it appears I'm organizing everything. But I'm fine with giving it up if someone else wants it.
We've got room for 10 total including me.

I'm going to be honest, uniform regulations past green and tan are stupid.
Also why chrono with .25's when .2 is the standard literally everywhere.

No ~pro~ airsofters run .2's though, .25's are the standard for these types of events

Plus the uniform regulations would actually be pretty cool, adds to the ~immersion~, it's part of what separates these bigger events from smaller skirmishes.

I really wish I could go to this, but that'd involve an expensive plane ticket. :(

Because no one uses .2g's at a large op. Its literally throwing away your accuracy.
Uniform regs are for ~immersion~ and ~milsim~, I don't particularly care either way, but I'll spend the cash to look the part if that's what we're trying to do.

I read that for the russian team you can wear M81. The only requirement I think is the VDV striped shirt

M81 for Russkies? Seriously? I'd be interested in this but lack appropriate camo/gear. If there's enough interest from other IFAP members I'll buy some camo and probably go.

there's some pretty reasonably priced stuff here

plus it's cheaper since it's in the us, aka no russki shipping

So what camo would you guys want to run? I'm good for anything I guess.

But I imagine chest rigs and such are personal preference? What about head gear?

    I'd KILL for Gorka.

Gorka is allowed, but I don't think we could all afford it.
I think we should all go for a similar color scheme over the same exact camo scheme. Since someone is likely going to be stuck with M81, we should probably stock to dark greens. So if you could get a Gorka in a dark green blend, I'd go for it.
Just from that website, VSR, Winter VSR, and the SPOSN Parashutist 3M look pretty dang good.

ALL GEAR IS PERSONAL PREFERENCE, JUST LIKE WEAPONS.
It might kill a bit of the realism, but I want everybody to win and do their best, not merely look their best.
I'm probably gonna look into buying a chest rig or something, but I won't sacrifice my abilities for the looks. Maybe a chest rig for the parade ground or something.

    Edited:

Oh yeah head gear is required, it can be a dark colored beret, a balaclava, or a hard cover, but there are no boonie hats, shemaghs, or uncovered helmets. Shiny helmets=bad apparently.
All uniform regs are in here:
    http://www.oplionclaws.com/phpBB/vie...p?f=159&t=4318
    I'll be wearing my balaclava.

I'll try and find a Gorka when I finally have a set in stone ride.

Get a SPOSN rig I guess in OD.

    Wear a balaclava.

Maybe I should get a Rossia helmet cover and put it on my IDF helmet? It'd probably fit the profile of some Rossia helmet I guess, they used like twenty variations of helmets.

CYMA AK not sure what variant but we'll see. Not sure how hot they shoot out of the box but probably nothing spring compression can't fix.

Unless you want to actually build a russian loadout, i'd probably stay away from buying russian gear, they're crazy expensive. (although they are usually of crazy good quality too)

you could just get a cheap chicom or some western ak chest rig and call it a day

Well this is technically post apocalypse/downfall of the US, so I think half Russian setups are fine.

Also, I'm not sure anyone with a woodland hoodie as their camo should be going to a Lion Claws event, you should at least be willing to spring for a pair of woodland BDU's.

It's only an hour away though.

You came to Merida II and I'd imagine it's 10 times as medicore as any lion claws event could be.

    And $100 is chump change.

Normally I'd agree with you, but its not standard Lion Claws. As I said in Daily Life:
"I personally find the concept of a many hour CQB game that's semi only at reasonable fps limits and in an awesome site to be arousing."

No crazy missions, no pyros, just solid objective based CQB for hours.

when I said woodland hoodie I meant some sort or goretex brand bdu with hood because spets wear something similar iirc; plus it looks classy when you use it in a USA DOMINATE SPECFORCE GENERIC CALL OF DUTY loadout

Basically the retarded admission fees buy that shit; celebrity commanders, pyro, trucks, and cool fields

the fact that two of those are missing IN CONJUCTION with the fact that John Lu isn't really all that good at running games make paying that kind of money/driving that far completely silly.

There are plenty of CQB sites around me to go to if I really want to get that fix

Well you go and have a wonderful time at your normal CQB fields.
I'll be busy having a great time running around with some members of IFAP shooting multicam'd operators in a super cool looking abandoned factory.
Its an experience, so while CQB is fun, it will never be the same as a huge CQB op.

What was your opinion of Merida II than? And be honest, because it was disappointing from a gameplay perspective. The first one was run a lot better. Hanging out with IFAPers was the best part of it but I still had a good time.

It seemed kind of directionless to me, there wasn't really any good communication with the refs, the objectives, timelines and rules were not clear and identifying friend and foo was an issue.

I wish we could have a NATO vs Rossia event in Canada with proper uniform requirements instead of just tan vs green or camo vs civilian clothes like most of the milsim ops up here seem to be.

I'm with you on this, Merida, especially for me who came from Virginia, was a complete waste of my time. The best part of the whole trip was the McDonalds breach and clear. I mean when we actually played and shit got done it was fun but otherwise meh. I had a much, MUCH better time at Revelations, it was run extremely well, the merchants were awesome, the gameplay mechanics were amazing, gunplay was slow at first but was all out by the end, and the faction leaders were awesome. As well as the currency, that was done really well, there was counterfeit caps going around by the end of it, people who brought actual caps instead of the issued ones and tricked players into thinking they were real. It would have been twice as good if Tankman hadn't been there and dropped the Pre-War artifact as well as calling me ossumfaggot.

I might be there... I honestly don't know what to think of an extended CQB only game, particularly at the price they're asking, and having to deal with getting someone to vouch for me and shit, but on the other hand the AO looks cool... I'm not sure what to think yet.

Okay, turns out that Lion Claws runs in 10 man squads instead of 11. I think the best way for us to organize would be for me (or someone else) to be squad leader and Fireteam A leader, while someone else leads Fireteam B and is in command when I get hit.
Also, we can have 1 person in our squad with a grenade launcher, if anyone wants to step up, let me know, it'll be a big advantage but the costs behind it could probably be better spent elsewhere. (Tornado grenades are much more valuable since they have a 15 foot kill range and no MED)

With Merida II, from what Mich tells me, there was supposed to be communication and collaboration with the guys in charge of the Cartel and the US team, but the commander of the US team didn't completely cooperate and didn't control his team to keep the game going good.
We've run normal games at HVA with nearly the same gameplay objectives and stuff as Merida II, and they went good, the foul weather didn't help Merida either.
I might be down for this, originally I planned to go regardless, but Northern Light is looking much better to me (based on last year's stuff said from the other guys), so I might go, i'm going with my Brother and some HVA guys on the Russian team.

When was this announced actually? Because Red Storm seems like short notice. "You have a month to get Russian gear if you need it and two weeks to register and GOGOGO"

I could've had a bitching Rossia loadout by now if I had known about it a month or two ago. Even as a pipe dream.

It's been announced for a while, you might be able to get away with ALICE gear w/ MOLLE AK pouches for a stand-in for SMERSH gear (from what I saw once, it looked like older SMERSH gear or whatever was p. much ALICE).
Ebairsoft has knockoff Flora too. PASGT makes a dece Russian helmet stand-in for the short notice, something some of you guys suggested to each other.
I might buy a Pantac LBT1961A to replace my Condor 7 pocket rig, or maybe i'll pimp out my ALICE, because I love belt rigs, but am too lazy to make it a MOLLE belt rig.

It looks like the announcement post was made in early December. And remember, you do have just short of 2 months until the game, so there's a bit of time.
I wasn't planning on going until about last week when the members of my CQB arena were talking about going. I do know I'm almost certainly going to the next Pine Plains with a full squad from my CQB arena.

The price was ridiculous for what I got gameplay wise (not much), but I fully knew what I was getting in to. OPs at fields new to airsoft tend to be like that.

I wasn't driving 5 hours and paying 50 bucks to play an excellent game, I was doing it to meet/play alongside you guys mostly, which was the fun part

Ah, I'm just late than. The problem is alot of this gear is from Hong Kong and Russia.

So the shipping times are measured in months, not days or weeks.

    Edited:

Also I prefer MOUNT and CQB.

I CANNOT STAND woods games. All I do is struggle to walk without tripping and hurting myself or twisting my knees because of all the rocks and branches and shit we have around here.

And than my rifles have a tough time penetrating foliage so I usually can't hit shit. CQB and Mount is great because it's a bit more tactical I guess. There are SO MANY ways to cut a pie in a small town or a big building.

I just SUCK at breaching rooms. No matter what I do I'll die the moment I enter the doorway.
