That's really quite irrelevant though. If someone goes through to the point where they get surgery, they don't won't want to have been ever considered a man. And of course admitting as such when they are living as a woman and look identical to a woman is going to endanger way the fuck too many relationships just because so many people are insecure like that.
I am pretty sure 99% of heterosexuals want someone whose sex matches their gender. Most people want to have kids.

maybe this is just bigoted old me but you could take the girl I am crushing over at this very moment, tell me she is transsexual, and I would not chase her any more. I think this is a notion which the vast majority of men would agree with.

Furthermore that seems rather nefarious, to have sex with a man without telling him you once had a cock
The thing is. Is that when/if we go to the lengths to actually get surgery. We would certainly not want to be known as once being a man and would rather live a happy life as a woman.

    Adoption?
Or surrogacy if spreading their genetic material is that important?

I'm pretty sure you can tell a sex partner something like that though...especially since reproduction is sorta the main point of marriage/domestic partnership...

Thank you. Better start asking every girl you try to date whether or not they're transsexual as theres a good chance they may be.

To me a relationship/marriage is more of an emotional thing rather than reproduction. That seems to be the case with many people in my city as well.

Look I'm trying to be realistic here. The reason why a TS would even hide this is because they know that.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that people who have gone through the terrifyingly arduous process of getting to the, once more, not particularly easy process of surgery, just to be recognized as a woman, are going to be wearing tshirts saying 'I was regarded as male for most of my life, and had a penis'

and I don't think it's particularly nefarious to not tell people about your past before having sex
anymore so than doing anything someone finds morally wrong like theft, or tax evasion, or drug use, or driving a car as a woman in Saudi Arabia, or voting republican
(and even then regarding MtF as morally wrong is pretty problematic in itself! so not really comparable on that scale even)

And you think a transgender person wouldn't want kids too? Until science comes up with a way for a transgender person to have fully functioning reproductive capabilities of their preferred gender, they'd have to rely on adoption or surrogates as Contag said.

I'm cisgendered heterosexual and I wouldn't give a damn if my partner used to be biologically male

it's not like on the first date I examined her vulva and said 'my what wonderful external genitalia you have, I will proceed in this courtship'

Again this reinforces the 'pipe dream' part of my last post. That and elecbullet's last post about over-dramatizing. This is all hypothetical and completely hopeful (to the point of delusion) scenarios that don't seem to have the chance of ever becoming reality, even in the progressive, amazing utopia so many people here think is coming so soon.

I mean we have goveners here in America vetoing gay marriage for fucks sake.

I never said it's right, I'm just saying that I do think the vast majority of people would not want a partner/date/spouse/whatever that is TG or TS. I mean this is something that should be obvious, but it seems like it isn't judging from some posts here.

Regardless, I didn't read the first pages, just came in to learn the about TG/TS's, since it seems like no one talks about this group, despite talking about LGBT

That's the thing though. It shouldn't even matter in the first place what someone was born as. What should matter is what they are now. Yes, they can't currently be given fully functioning reproductive organs of their preferred gender, but visibly and lifestyle-wise they are their preferred gender and should be treated as such in every relevant manner.

I wonder, are male-to-female or female-to-male transgenders more common? Logically thinking it should be 50/50, but I only seem to read of male-to-female cases
    Assigned males:
1 in 30,000 seek sex reassignment surgery (USA)

    Assigned females:
1 in 100,000 seek sex reassignment surgery (USA)

But on average, FtMs are more comfortable with coming out and generally do so a lot earlier than MtFs.

Height-year-old second-grader in Los Angeles is a typical patient. Born a girl, the child announced at 18 months, 'I a boy' and has stuck with that belief. The family was shocked but now refers to the child as a boy and is watching for the first signs of puberty to begin treatment, his mother told The Associated Press.
I find that hard to take seriously. I mean to someone that age that age 'boy' and 'girl' are no more than abstract concepts and I doubt they have the ability to tie them down to their own psychological state in the context of gender

you're trying to get more credence for yr. argument then you usually would get by using lots of scientific-sounding terminology but you're basically just hiding the fact that wait, you're totally wrong, a 6 year old definitely does know the difference between a boy and a girl even if it's just in the way the two are treated by society

You're born a certain gender, but you don't know any different at that age- you can't get into other peoples minds and put that abstract sense of self you have in context. Words mean nothing without context. So how do you apply a specific gender to yourself that is not your physical sex, when apart from the aesthetic differences there isn't really anything else for someone of that age to judge gender by? It's not until later you get to that level of self-reflection and ability to see things from other peoples perspectives that allows you to apply the concept of gender to yourself imo (note the difference between gender and sex)
Hard to explain and I had to rush because my mum's calling me down for food haha, but I hope you get what I mean.

You're stating these things as fact. Can you cite any psychological studies that concur with what you're saying?

It's real easy to just say "kids don't understand what gender they are", but to back it up, that takes intelligence.

Well babies who are born with cerebral palsy can't discover for themselves- through self-reflection and putting their psychological state into the context of other people- that they do indeed have cerebral palsy (Bad analogy I know, I couldn't think of anything better) It's the same with any other psychological condition
And about me stating what I said as fact, all I did was use common logic and extrapolate scientific knowledge

You've extrapolated no scientific knowledge, all you've done is made a poor analogy that doesn't prove anything.

Cite some kind of psychological study or evidence thereof that supports what you're saying, or just admit you don't actually know what you're talking about.

I think that YOUNG kids (Primary school and such) shouldn't be allowed the choice of changing their gender, but when they get to secondary school, I think they are able to make the all-important choice on the matter.

And again thats why, when pre puberty, all that is offered is therapy, and when needed reversible puberty blockers. No one is saying that they should be given the option to have hormones and the surgery there and then, just that YES children that age do know something is wrong, and there is stuff that is best to do about it.
