I know it may not be completely relevant, but do any of you guys know of some really good websites about architecture and buildings and that sort of thing? I got a few books for Christmas about architectural theory and the like. I've been really engrossed in this and I'm finding I like architecture a lot. Seeing as this also pertains to my affinity for level design I was wondering if you guys had anything you could link me to?

Really glad to know I'm not the only person with a 1600+ architecture book.
About the websites, sorry to say I don't know of any, but I have some interesting reference pictures of buildings/urban scenes lying around on my computer. I could put them up here if your hunt turns up dry.

Probably Ivy Bridge CPU, MOBO and go all out for 16GB of RAM along with the 690.

I'd stick with Sandybridge. Ivy bridges seem to be a bit pointless. The only purpose to them is to make them more energy efficient and cooler. Why the ram?

I'm all about the energy saving and temperatures, RAM is for VMWare which I will run at home to run several servers on a dedicated broadband line.

Intel I5 2500k is £169.99 and runs @ 3.30GHz, uses 95W. Intel I5 3550 is £162.99 runs @ 3.30GHz uses 77W.

I thought Ivy ran hotter than Sandy?

Both processors were overclocked to 4.9 GHz (with air cooling) and behold, Ivy lost her temper, heating up 20 degrees more than Sandy who held her grip at 80 degrees Celsius. So, why do Ivy Processors appear to reach higher temperatures when compared to Sandy Bridge? According to Overclockers.com, a huge factor to consider is the interface between the CPU die and the heat spreader.

Ivy Bridge actually uses a thermal paste between both ends (die and heat spreader) which makes the transfer interface less efficient in suppressing heat. On the other hand, Sandy Bridge uses a fluxless solder on the lid of its CPU. It appears that this small change in Ivy’s thermal interface is the main culprit here. Surprisingly, Intel confirmed that the reason for Ivy Bridge’s higher thermal density is due to the different package thermal technology used on the chip.
