Is it a small community you live in?
I hate clouds when it's the perfect night to watch the sky
sorry for making alot of videos, but I got a bunch of meteors in a single one, at the end.
Again watch in HQ only
Man, I'm waiting for the next shower, going to try again.
why don't we all gather and create the Spacepunch program and send Swebonny to mars
IMO tax money shouldn't be going to something that all you can say about is "That looks cool"
I think they named a bar after space.
It also creates thousands of (American) workplaces (which is where the money goes, it doesn't vanish).
"Space is useless"
Uhm, GPS? Satellite imagery? Satellite communication?
Not even gotten to the part about space being an infinite pool of resources.
All these videos really make me wish I lived in the northern hemisphere. Right now, my sky's filled with fuck all and even if there was something to look at, it's early/mid autumn, which means cloud cover's only gonna get thicker.
Also here's the ATV 3 docking with the ISS:
Thrusters firing and shit.
I really like that first picture.
So today I figured out that I'm going on a trip to Costa Rica over the Summer, I'll be sure to send pictures of the sky, I bet they are really clear.
I hate how I have a pretty decent telescope, but the tripod is broken so I can't use it.
It's funny to think that the entire International Space Station program, a project that is shared between several nations and spanned decades have a total budget of "only" ~$150 billion including the shuttle launches.
At the same time we spend $1630 billion on the military every single year. That's 15 damn ISS projects including the shuttle a single damn year. We'd probably have a colony on moon and manned travel to Mars by now if all that cash was spent on space.
We'd be able to do such great things if we all were united. Imagine a single space agency and a united science community with no secrecy between each other. Things would work so damn much better.
I should summon the optimisticlord.
We should all play the Megamillion and give it all to
Anyone do any astrophotography?
You can take reasonably good deep field space shots with many types of cheap cameras, you just need a tripod, patience and software called Deep Sky Stacker.
Pointed my camera at crux, stacked a bunch of 6 second exposures at iso1600 using a 50mm prime lens
i also took this using my scope
it's reasonably easy to do and you can produce decent results even with the weakest of scopes
cmos cameras are much better at imaging the sky, i'd love to be able to create something like this
Also this is like 37,500 photos stitched into one interactive viewer, it's pretty dope
